Lenny Kravitz is definitely one of the best and most important musicians of our time. 5 is just one prove of that. His style is an original mix of new influences, 60's and 70's rock and soul, and also hip hop.
5 starts with Live, which takes you straight to the feeling. THIS is what this record is all about. SuperSoulFighter just makes it better. Then comes the first slowish one, I Belong To You. And all the time it just gets better and better. The beautiful ending with Can We Find A Reason makes it... perfect.
The record has many faces, love the lyrics and the sounds. Kravitz plays almost all the instruments by himself, and uses for example "Green Heineken Bottles" to make the sound more interesting. By far it's the best of Kravitz's albums. And if you want something extra, go on and by the version with American Woman and Without You. Both worth listening.

Not Quite up to Kravitz's standards, August 27, 1999

I have to give credit to Lenny Kravitz for creating a good blend of soulful vocals and hard rock guitars, however, I wasnt too interested in most of the songs on the album. I found most to be kinda BAD. Fly away is good though.k
