4.0 out of 5 stars Definately stands out on the counter
The stand is made of a shiny plastic and the knives have a nice design. Unfortunately it looks like one of the knives is already beginning to rust a little.

It is more of an art piece than a functional kitchen item though, so I'm happy with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what you might think!
We first saw this knife block in a store in New Zealand. We loved it then, it had a nice heavy metal base but the packing of it was too much to bring home to the U.S. So, when we found the same style of knife block on amazon.com (loftparty) we where thrilled.

We first saw this knife block in a store in New Zealand. We loved it then, it had a nice heavy metal base but the packing of it was too much to bring home to the U.S. So, when we found the same style of knife block on amazon.com (loftparty) we where thrilled.

However, due to perhaps mass or over production of the "Ex" knife block, the base was now constructed out of plastic! The whole construction seemed loose, and the wearing and chipping of the silver metallic paint was inevitable. Disappointed, we promptly returned it. Now I have to live with shoppers regret.

I got this for the wife and she just loves it! Not long after she started using it she taped a picture of my face on its head, giving us both a good laugh, what a wiseacre! She cooks a lot more now that I got it for her so it has benefits for me, as well. I often find her standing in the kitchen for hours just taking the knives out, honing or sharpening them, and putting them back in.

She's so happy I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with her standing over me sweating with a wide-eyed grin on her face. All-in-all a fantastic product!

I had admired this for a long time prior to purchasing it. It may be because of all the build-up that the end result it such a let down.

To be fair, the knives are of good quality; not the best, but by no means are they a total waste of time.

The construction does leave much to be desired though. The base is rather cheap feeling, light-weight plastic, and the chrome paint/layer they put on should be a bit more durable considering this model costs $30 more than the others.

It IS nifty, and it IS attractive (for now.....) but I could not recommend this purchase to anyone else..... As a matter of fact, I'll probably give it to the first person who comes to visit and seems truely taken with it.

It is advertised as "chrome" and costs $30 more than the others, but it is still just plastic. If you are expecting metal, you will be disappointed. I was, but I still liked it and kept it. The knives are good quality and it is a fun addition to the kitchen.

Everything about this product is top shelf. The only reason I didn't give it the full five [5] stars was because for the extra money I thought the body should have been some kind of chromed metal.

I got this as a house warming gift a year ago, and love the humor of it.

I have the plastic chrome one that cost $20 more, huge waste of the extra money, the stand is super cheap, crappy and looks way better in the photo than in person. It is hard to keep clean, and is all ways dusty and spotty looking, I would advise to get the red or black one.

The knifes are good I use them daily. They will rust a little if you don't keep them clean and dry, not recomended for the dishwasher.

We recently purchased the 5pce knife set and have been extremely disappointed. The knives are rusting and we have just recently returned the set to Amazon for a refund.

This was a graduation gift and she loved it. Right away we knew she shouldn't be handling knives but it was a special occasion. Delivery was prompt and the product was in great condition. Great gift idea.

This review is from: The Ex 5-Piece Knife Set with Limited Edition Chrome Holder Designed By Raffaele Iannello (Kitchen)
I am very well satisfied with the purchased of the 5-piece Knife Set Limited Edition Chrome Holder Designed. I purchased it for my daughter for her birthday and she was very well pleased with it. I have tried several places and a friend of mine had purchased one from Amazon and I liked hers really well so I ordered one. Very well pleased with this purchased.
