There are many tricky questions in this book, which was helpful because it made me read much more carefully--a skill I will definitely use on the actual SAT Math sections. It also takes you through a variety of different problems so that you can basically handle anything. I felt that the difficulty was at a good level, similar to or perhaps a little harder than the real SAT.

However, be warned:
- On Practice Test 5, there are two answer key mistakes for the same kind of problem. The answer to Section 1 Question 17 should be C, and the answer to Section 2 Question 10 should be E. The explanations the author gives for these problems don't make sense and do not work once you try out the numbers. You're actually supposed to set a ratio of part over whole and pick the solution that yields a whole number when you multiply the ratio(s) by the solution.
- Unlike the College Board, the author does not indicate when a diagram is not drawn to scale.
- Unlike the College Board, the author includes many variable expressions or inequalities even in the Student-Produced Responses, which on the real SAT are always just numbers. But I liked the variables. I thought they made me think more critically because they required juggling more concepts in my head at once.

(For context, I scored a 730 on the actual SAT a few months before trying this book and was looking for something to bump me up 20-70 points. I don't yet know if it will work, but I feel more confident about approaching problems.)

I had a chance to look at a student's copy of this book, because he had questions about a few of the problems on the practice tests. Besides a couple of typos, I was SHOCKED to see that the answers to some of the student-produced response questions were variable expressions. Anybody familiar with the SAT knows that the SPR answers are all non-negative numbers... no variables. If the author is looking to provide practice, shouldn't he be able to create problems that match what students will see on the real test?Considering that this is solely a book with 5 SAT Math practice tests, I think it disqualifies this book as a realistic resource for practice. Finally, please consider that all 8 reviews that were listed at the time I'm writing this are by people with this book as their only review.

My son took his first SAT with no prep and scored well below his expectations. He used this book to prepare for his second test. He found it challenging--in a good way. The book helped him to quickly recognize what kinds of questions he needed to improve on, and helped him to get better with each test. He improved his math score from 520 to 690. I'm now using this book to prep my younger daughter for her PSAT. I expect her to improve greatly as well. Based on our experiences, I would highly recommend this book.

During my years as a student and now as an assistant tutor, I have pilfered my way through piles and piles of SAT books. I highly recommend this book for many reasons:

-Its language is written to be easily comprehended by the student.
-Current with the SAT standards for test preparation.
-Has material that is detailed and specific
- 5 complex yet informative test are alot easier for a student to achieve greater stride in progress then going through a "encyclopedia" of "how-to's" and "what to look out for"

Math really comes down to two things, knowing the formulas/concepts and knowing when to use them. In order to perfect these two, you need to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! By the time you are done with 5 of these tests, you'd probably covered all the concepts you'd need to know for the REAL test. I highly recommend this book!

This book is simply amazing. The explanations are very easy to understand and the questions are very relevant and similar to the ones on the real test. Many people I know have used it, including myself, and have helped us tremendously. I highly recommend this book.
