I am a chronic journaler. I don't write every day but I have kept a journal since I was in fifth grade. I don't really write about the minutiae of life, or day-to-day activities; my journals are more like the free writing exercises I used to do in middle school.
However, when I stumbled upon this journal I was immediate intrigued. While writing out my day's routine can become monotonous and dull when a full blank page of a journal is in front of me, this journal segments each page into 5 sections allowing for 5 years worth of journal entries in one book. With just a few lines per day, I find it's the perfect amount to write whatever is predominantly on my mind that day, be it a favorite sports team's game loss, an entertaining book or movie, or an interesting thought. I'm most impressed with the ability to look back on years past without digging out another journal.
I purchased two, one for myself and one for my sister, as we are both moving to different cities this fall. I think the ease of journaling will allow my sister, the chronic non-journaler, to keep up on a daily basis. I don't think that the lines are too small.. perhaps my writing is smaller than others, but even with the six allotted lines I sometimes only write in three or four lines.
My only qualms are that the cover is kind of dull (I purchased one in black and one in red), and the artwork on the front is not printed onto the cover but is rather easily removed. I also am not fond of the binding. As a left-handed person, it's pretty difficult for me to write when i can't lay the book flat even when I force it (without trying to snap the binding, of course). Rather, the half of the journal I'm not writing in is sticking straight up in the air, and my hand is bumping up against the binding which is very tightly glued together. I don't have this problem with the Moleskine, and hopefully this problem won't be too bad as I continue to use it and allow the binding to become looser.

I've only been using my 5-year journal for about a week, but I love it! I imagine it's going to be a lot of fun to read through once I'm finished. It serves as a great record of events. I love that it shows you what happened on that date for the entire five years on one page. I've built it into my routine to write my little daily blurb once I get into bed each night. It's actually very convenient to leave the journal on the nightstand and write in it before bed, as it only takes about a minute. Yes, there is a very small space to write in, but that's the point. Don't purchase this thinking it's going to be your sole journal if you're a journal-writer. There are only a few lines for each day so there's isn't room to really go into detail with your feelings and emotions. It really forces you to stick to the details!

Perfect size diary to record the weather and look back the previous year to compare. There are only a few lines so it is quick to jot some notes. Great little diary-I love the size.

Good diary
Some reviewers have wished for more lines per date. I've been using five-year diaries that only had three lines per date, so this new one is great!

Red Diary
The quality is not as good as others I have had but since it is hard to find diaries any more I will use this one. The cover is not pretty & looks cheap.

too tiny for words
This is an attractive, well-made journal, but the spaces for writing are just too tiny. After using it for a couple of weeks, I decided that I need a larger format.
