My 10 year old son & his 12 year old brother have a "rock band". Santa brought this for the 10 year old for Xmas. He is taking lessons & this set has been wonderful. It was easy to put together & the sound is great, especially considering the price.

Considering my house has 4 kids & a drum set is irresistable to ALL of them - the set has surived w/o mishap. It seems built to "take a licking".

I am sure there are better sets he'll get as he continues to improve & outgrows this set -- but I am VERY pleased. More importantly - so is my son!!

My son is learning to play the drums at school and wanted a drum set of his own. Tried to make due with an electronic drum pad but heard that "it wasn't the same." So after some research and reading other reviews of this set, we decided to purchase it for his Christmas gift. The packages arrived in a timely manner, the website provided detailed instructions on putting things together, and they sound good. I think this is a great price and a good starting drum set for anyone learning to play! Thank you!

I purchased a set of these Gammon Drums a few years ago and I have to say that for the price, their not too bad. To be honest though the cymbals are absolute trash. They sound like you are banging on trash can lids. They need to be upgraded immediately. The drummer's throne is OK for a lightweight like a kid but will not stand up for long to the weight of an adult. Mine bent after the first day. However the drums themselves are not bad. The heads are tolerable for a beginner and can be upgraded at a later date for a better sound. The drums themselves are well constructed and with better heads can sound good for many years. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone wanting to play professionally but for a beginner set they fit the bill, other than the cymbals. Figure on investing a couple of hundred dollars to upgrade to decent cymbals. I'm 57 years old and have played in a lot of garage bands over the years, mostly guitar and bass but have always wanted to play the drums. I have had a lot of fun with the Gammon set and am happy with what I got for the price. With a beefier throne and my new cymbals I have a set that I can play along with recordings of my favorite music and really enjoy. I will be really happy when I can afford to later upgrade the drum heads. I only give a 3 star out of 5 rating because of the throne and cymbals. This is a great set for a kid just starting out.

We bought this set for my daughter's 10th birthday. The set is great. The sound is good and it was easy to set up. She absolutely loves it! I think this was a good value and would definitely recommend the set for those learning to play the drums.It has everything you need to learn to play without breaking the bank and it looks good too.

I placed by order June 3rd and recieved my order June 8th. I was very pleased with delivery time. The drums are very easy to assemble and sound great! I'm very pleased with my purchase. I had looked at other places before purchasing and the cheapest that I had found was $353.

drums are very nice. nice sounding heads when tuned right.problem with cymbals as expected, can't handle pressure. Drum stool not recommended for a person of size/weight.

I must say I was very concern about buying a drum set online. I just knew something was going to be wrong with it or that it was going to be of poor quality, since I knew nothing about drums and could not inspect it or ask questions about them like I would if I was at the store. But boy was I wrong!! Not only was I satisfied with the product and the price but my boyfriend complimented on how easy it was to assemble and of course the great quality. To say the least he has not let a day go by without playing his wonderful drum set..

I purchased this set for my 8 year old son for Christmas. He has taken drum lessons and wants to continue - we needed a set for him to learn and practice on. This was the least expensive set I found with decent reviews. My husband put the set together in about 2 hours on Christmas Eve, with no prior knowledge of drums at all. He had some trouble with the high hat - still not working quite right, but I think it's assembly error rather than anything wrong with the product. The drums sound great to us - we aren't musicians and aren't expecting a performance quality product for the money. I think these are perfect for learning and practice. Other reviewers have complained about the cymbals. They do seem a little bit flimsy, but I think they sound fine for a kid practicing in the basement. The price was great. I honestly didn't check in local music stores, so maybe I could have gotten a better deal. The addded shipping cost kind of ruined the super deal the drums seemed to be. However, the set arrived in only a few days time. It came in two large and somewhat heavy boxes. There's no picture on the box, but it says "drum kit" on the outside. Gift givers beware if you want a surprise. My brother-in-law is a drummer and suggested we get mutes for the drums and bamboo sticks to help keep the noise down, or that we wouldn't be able to be in the same room when my son was playing. He was right. We were able to get mutes for only 2 of the drums before the holiday. They make a huge difference and we'll be getting them for the rest of the drums. We've only had the drums for a week, but my son loves them. I love them, too! The set came with everything you need including a pair of sticks and the "throne". Everything is very adjustable - great because a junior set is too small for my son. This is a full size set but can be adjusted so my 8 yr old can use it. I'm happy that it will grow with him. Some reviewers complained about the seat, saying it wasn't sturdy. Seems fine to me. I think we might all take up drumming.

Ordered this for my son for Christmas 2011. This came in 2 boxes, and I haven't put it together yet. The boxes clearly say, "drum set." So be careful when and where you ship it if it is going to be a surprise.
