Sylvia Woods' harp music books are among the most popular books for harpists at any level. They are playable on lever harps (also called Irish, Celtic, or folk harps) as well as pedal harps (also called concert, grand, or orchestral harps).

Her multi-level books are easily accessible for both beginners and advanced players. In these books, Sylvia has created two arrangements for each piece: an easy version, and one that is more difficult. Beginners can start with the easy version, and work their way up to the harder one. The two versions can also be played "back to back" to make a more varied arrangement. More advanced players and pedal harpists can add extra notes and chords to the harder version, making their own unique arrangement. The two versions can also be played together as a duet

This is a terrific book with some wonderful Irish selections like "Danny Boy", "My Wild Irish Rose" in it. Sylvia has done her usual great job of arranging these for the lever or concert harp, including the easier and the more difficult versions. I find that her music is easily played, even for the beginner. I thought these songs were quite lovely.

The design is nice, however frankly speaking I expected the songs to be more interesting and beautiful. Nothing special. Though not bad.

I've been studying celtic harp for three years as an adult pupil and playing an istrument is not so easy for me. So these traditional songs that you can easily ear everywhere in celtic cds or in tv programmes are the best things to play as you can easily know how to play it. The arrangements are very good and you can learn having fun! Kiss from Italy!
