4.0 out of 5 stars Not for SLRs
This tripod would be great to stabilize small point-and-shoot cameras, but it cannot hold my Canon SLR. As soon as I tightened everything up and let go of the camera, the camera started pointing down until it was straight down. No matter how tight I got it, it could not hold my camera up. 3.0 out of 5 stars Travel tripod
This is item is just what I wanted. It is light (about 1 pound), collapses to 16-18 inches, and extends to 50". It was very inexpensive too. Therefore great for travel and carrying. I'm not a professional and don't work with this daily; if I was a professional I would have purchased a composite tripod for hundreds. As is, this will suit me fine. It is not terribly...

This tripod would be great to stabilize small point-and-shoot cameras, but it cannot hold my Canon SLR. As soon as I tightened everything up and let go of the camera, the camera started pointing down until it was straight down. No matter how tight I got it, it could not hold my camera up. Plus, the base that you screw into your camera is very small, so if your camera is heavy, it pops out of the tripod (Luckily I had my hands underneath when my camera fell off the tripod).

So, if you have a heavy camera, steer clear.

If you have a light camera, this tripod is perfect for on the go. It is super light, folds down to a very small size for a tripod, and has all the settings to get the shot you need.

I chose to give it a 4 star rating because I got it as a gift, and now I notice it mentions in the description it has a 2.5 pound load capacity. I'm not quite sure I would put a 2.5 pound camera on it though - small point-and-shoot cameras will be perfectly fine.

I need to get a more heavy-duty tripod, but if you have a small camera, I think this tripod is a good find.

It is not terribly sturdy, won't stand up to a stiff wind, and the plastic parts will probably break if stressed. I got what I paid for and am happy as such.

When a seller uses the word "Professional" in their description of their product, it leads one to believe that the item is of very high quality. Such was not the case...AT ALL...with this Tripod! It is an awful piece of junk that we cannot use and we were so disappointed in our purchase. (Especially since it was a Christmas gift). It is terribly unsteady, shaky, and pretty much worthless. We suppose that's the nature of shopping online...you never know what you're going to get, good or bad. And this time it was bad. :(

i regretted this purchase the second i opened it. the cheapest made item on all of amazon i bet and it seems like it could hardly hold a fischer price camera. thank god it was cheap. spend the extra $20 and get something you can actually use.

For the price, you can assume this is something that is pretty flimsy, but this product was even flimsier than my wildest imagination. If you have anything heavier than a point and shoot, don't even waste your time looking at it. I have huge reservations about putting my DSLR on it with a 30mm prime, much less with my 70-200, or even with my speedlight attached. "Professional" my ear!

OK, I wasn't expecting much. I thought some of the bad reviews I read before buying were somewhat unreasonable, thinking a heavy DSLR or a Camcorder would work with a specifically light weight tripod. I just wanted an extra tripod for a small and light point and shoot to use mainly indoors. Well, now with first hand experience, I have to say, this is BAD. First off, the one I received had a plastic latch on one of the bottom leg segments that would not close/lock when that segment was fully extended. (Curious, but it would close when the segment was NOT FULLY extended.) At first I thought it was just sticking or something, and used normal effort to close it. Then I saw the cheap black plastic of the latch "blister" white where it bends. A sure promise to break soon. Deal breaker. Secondly, the part where the camera sits is NOT level. Funny and ironic that this tripod comes with one of those glass/liquid levelers, ha ha. In order to get a flat shot, you have to goof around a fair bit with the leg heights. Thirdly, yeah, it's supposed to be light, but this unit really is exceptionally flimsy, especially if you plan to use the bottom segments, which are literally 1/4" X 5/16" of thin cheap aluminum, and on top of that, folds out to an unusually narrow base, giving very little stability. This last factor sort of negates one of its main selling points: Small enough when folded up to throw in your backpack - because that implies taking it outdoors, and my guess is that anything more than the lightest breeze and your camera is toast.

So, if you plan ONLY to use it indoors, and ONLY with a very small and light camera, AND you happen not to get a defective one like I got, then ... hell, I still can't recommend it, because it seems like it's just begging to break (especially the cheap latches - and even if only one does go, then for that good bargain hunter's price, you end up with absolutely nothing!). Also, I see that the price has been climbing up a couple bucks. So, even if you're on a budget, just drop an extra ten on something better. That's what I'm doing when I return this one.

I was sorely disapiinted when I received this tripod and found it did not hold my DSLR steady. The legs are thin and it does not support much weight. The case is thin and very cheap. I wish I had a bigger budget.

This tripod is very cheap quality wise. I purchased one off ebay and well, you get what you pay for. I definitely wouldn't trust my expensive DSLR on this thing. When fully extended, the tripod is wobbly and the bottom of the legs seem like they're ready to give out any second(think newborn calf trying to walk for the first time).

The other issue I have is that the detachable tripod head that enable you to quickly remove the camera from the tripod does not seem to be secure when the camera is attached as it wobbles.

The only way I'll be using this is if I'm on the move and might need something out on the field as I like how small & light it is when it's folded all the way; easily fits in a backback or messenger bag. Then again, I definitely wouldn't use it extended all the way; the short the better.

If you have an expensive camera then I would definitely not recommend this tripod in the least bit.

If you are using a cheap camera, point & shoot or just an ameture photog without expectations then I think you'd be alright with this item.
