Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

These two books have been specifically designed to aid mature adults in vacation planning. Both share many similarities, as they thoroughly address all the needs of would-be travelers and provide an abundance of general and practical information. Each contains a detailed resource section that lists organizations, complete with addresses and telephone numbers for additional information. Travel and Older Adults is conveniently divided into two parts. The first covers "Travel Basics," while the second (the bulk of the text) is an extensive resource section. The material is well presented and the book is an excellent resource tool. The only negative factor is its high cost. The 50+ Traveler's Guidebook emphasizes "growing rather than growing old." Its aim is to assist individuals in filling their lives with excitement, education, and new experiences. The first part covers vacations that suit individual lifestyles, including everything from spa retreats and castle holidays to river-barges and cruises. The smaller second part (54 pages) is nonetheless an adequate resource section. Though both books are highly informative and would greatly assist mature travelers, The 50+ Traveler's Guidebook is recommended due to its more reasonable price.
