Book Description

May 28, 2006 500 Series
On display: the most magnificent collection of handmade glass creations ever assembled!
Handmade glass objects are taking the craft world by storm with their great variety and beauty. Juried by Maurine Littleton, a gallery owner and distinguished presence in the studio-glass field, these 500 outstanding pieces capture the finest work done by top artisans worldwide. Cast your eye over flameworked goblets, cast vases, blown cups, and fused and slumped bowls. Jane Lee's stoneware "Rainbow Bowl" is a symphony of brilliant color, while Keith Weiss-Cole's graceful furnace-blown "Sculpture of Two" glows with light. The magnificent techniques on display include mosaics, enameling, engraving, carving, and etching, and the unique shapes and eye-catching designs will amaze any art or craft lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzling colour and shape, August 22, 2007
This review is from: 500 Glass Objects: A Celebration of Functional & Sculptural Glass (500 Series) (Paperback)
I am not really sure what people are hoping to find in this book. Like all of Lark's '500 Series' they are simply inspirational, the are not technical nor are they project based or how to, they are mostly gorgeous eye candy. I am not a glass artist, I am lucky to have a few art glass pieces that I have collected over the years but I bought this book purely to marvel at the shapes, originality and astonishing colours achieved by the wonderful artists whoose work is contained within. Truly luscious pieces each and everyone. Not always functional but certainly inspiring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous wonderful book, April 24, 2009

My son is a budding glass blower and we bought this book for him for Christmas. I could barely stand to give it to him, but we did, and he loved it. It has gorgeous photographs and plenty of them and for a glass designer (or whatever what he does is called), it's a great gift. He was going to take it to his college to show the teacher because it wasn't in their library. That's how good it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational Art Glass, April 14, 2010

As a fused glass artist, I found this book inspirational. I have only been working in this medium for a couple of years and it has just shown me what possibilities there are and what techniques I still have to learn. The pieces are beautifully photographed.
