5.0 out of 5 stars The "German Method," exposed.....
If you own the car, you should own this manual. For those of you who own these cars, and need service, you will be much better prepared for dealing with a mechanic. Fluids specs, full description of features, and service recommendations are included. For those of you who will work on their own car, you will find the "german method" for completing the work...

This review is from: Audi 5000s 5000Cs Official Factory Repair Manual: 1984-1988, Gasoline, Turbo, and Turbo Diesel Including Wagon and Quattro (2 - Volume Set) (Paperback)
Big two volumne manual. Electrical schematics are first rate, and exploded diagrams are very good. Unfortunately there is no troubleshooting info. If you have a flashing light on the dash, you have to spend many hours dredging through the diagrams and charts simply to figure out which of the bloody thermoswitches it is. Then when you do narrow it down, there is no info on what the correct sensor outputs should be.

If you know what you want to change, the book has good info. If you are trying to diagnose ... try again.

This involves a "systems" approach, with systematic troubleshooting. Each system is explained in the text, and when I used this to troubleshoot a fuel system, all of the correct voltage and resistance values were in the manual. An absolute godsend when installing stereos, heater cores, etc, as the each of the approximately 2 billion VW/AUDI clip styles are covered (okay, I exaggerated)These manuals are derived from the manuals supplied to the dealers. Worth every cent.
