5.0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY FUNNY
This guy's a riot. I saw a copy of this book in a bar and got my own copy at Borders. Even when I re-read sections I've already laughed at, I laugh again and so do my friends when I tell them. How about another 501 more Great things, mR. Taussig? signed, waiting in New Mexico

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so great "Great Things" book
I should be able to say 503 great things about a book with a title like this. But in reality, I have one great thing to say: it didn't cost me an arm and a leg so I don't feel so bad tossing it on the shelf and forgetting about it. Sure, some of the "great things" were funny and I'll probably be saying "I wasn't born gay. It was sheer luck" for a long...

This book helped me realize how I needed to accept who I am even with my psycho-controlling mother.

Not a single dumb cliche in the book. I spent a lot of time reading these to friends, and they loved it too. I really recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A peek into myself....?, April 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: 501 Great Things About Being Gay (Paperback)
My mom and I were shopping and she picked up this book, opened it and started laughing away. It so happened she had opened it to the "you can always say the right words in at least one other language" and, seeing as I speak four, it fit me perfectly. We drove home laughing (even had to pull off the road once) at the really true (well, at least to me) witty aspects of Gay life. I think my favourite is surely: I didn't choose to be Gay. I just got lucky:) Though I'd probably be better described with "you look like a Ralph Lauren model" or "you can dance". Girlfriend...you'd better buy this, it's fabulous.

Sure, some of the "great things" were funny and I'll probably be saying "I wasn't born gay. It was sheer luck" for a long time, but much of the book is based on ridiculously outdated stereotypes. I give it one star, but only because Amazon wouldn't let me skip that question.

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious ! I laughed my head off, August 30, 1998
By A Customer

This is the funniest book I think I've ever read. Obviously the queen from Richmond was all ragged out when she read it, because I howled at every page of this book. Really edgy stuff. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars It opened up a new life for me and my lover, June 19, 1999

I cant believe how much this book has changed my life! I picked up this book for a joke but I found it hard to put back down. It inspired me so much that my life has now changed. Me and my partner Sharpey have discovered a new Gay life and are enjoying a ravishing sex life. This book has been the best thing that ever happened to me! 5 star!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it, August 4, 2003
This review is from: 501 Great Things About Being Gay (Paperback)
I thought I knew alot of fun things about being Gay, but this really does take some beating. I especially liked the section about 'What you can do with a tied up Frazer!' and 'How to convert people called Bob and Tobyn to being gay the legal way' and 'How to convert people called Frazer to being gay the ILLEGAL way'

The book is great and can't get enough of it.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Up too late, December 29, 1999
This review is from: 501 Great Things About Being Gay (Paperback)
I didn't get enough sleep last night because of this book. I thought I'd read a few pages before going to sleep and ended up reading it cover to cover. Many of the 501 things rang true for me, and I laughed out loud many times (I guffawed at least twice). I love this funny little book. Now I'll let my partner read it (after all, I gave it to him for Christmas!).

1.0 out of 5 stars I hated it. So ridiculously stereotypical, December 29, 2004

I bought this book a couple years ago, and I must say I definitely agree with the reviewer who gave it one star. There were a lot of things that either seemed to be stereotypical or I just didn't get. I'd give it zero stars, but that's not an option.
