The second edition of this book could really use some additional indexing.

This book is not a dictionary per se - it does not purport to be one - so usually the process begins by finding a Hebrew verb in a separate dictionary. The three dictionaries that I use present you with with the INFINITIVE of the verb, or FIRST PERSON MASCULINE, none gives you the ROOT. Unfortunately, there is no index in this book of infinitive or first person masculine forms of verbs. Indexing is by the ROOT only in Hebrew.

In the English index, the sequence is very confusing. The page sequence is from right to left in accordance with Hebrew script, but the columns on each page run from left to right.

As a result it is difficult to identify the verb you want to research. Usually it requires back-tracking to the closest English word, and then scouring through the conjugation pages of possible candidates for the infinitive or first person form of the verb.

However, once you actually identify the verb, the information is exceptional. All tenses and constructs are included. I would say that despite its shortcomings, this book is essential to students of Hebrew.

As a low level Hebrew student, I find this reference very helpful. I'm also considering trying to learn one root per day to make it through in a couple of years. It's very organized and useful!

The Hebrew verbs book , 2nd edition is a big improvement over the 1st edition. I especially like the use of examples of the verbs used in sentences and the book starts on the right side as is the Hebrew language

Barron's 501 Hebrew Verbs perfectly answers my needs as a third semester student of conversational Hebrew. It is well organized, user-friendly, and accurate. Examples of usage would be desirable but would also increase the size of the book. The introduction tends to be technical and is probably better suited to advanced students than to relative beginners. Overall, the book is an excellent value.

I bought this book with other two: Hayesod, and Routledge Introductory course on modern Hebrew. This book is an excellent tool for learning verbs, I wouldn't recommend it by itself, it's way better if you have another one who helps you through the grammatic aspects and verbs according to importance or use... anyway, this book is great!!!
I bought it used, but it was hardly used... looked pretty new to me!!!

I really like this book.The first one was great but this one is better because I think it is more complete.
Easy to use.

An excellent aid for the intermediate and advanced student. Has added more roots to the book and the book now opens from right to left. One slight problem is present. The listing of the verb forms in order of binyanim instead of in order of more common usages may not be an improvement over the 1st edition. I hope the binding is more substantial in the new edition. Overall, it has proven to be an excellent reference.

I reached hey level at ulpan and found that this was the most useful and important study book from around the end of level gimmel. I found the book easy to use and quite enjoyable. I now speak Hebrew well after living in Israel for three years, but still use this book frequently to check verbs. I would advise anyone serious about learning Hebrew to have a copy at hand. Good luck with your studying! Learning Hebrew can be difficult and frustrating at first, but gets steadily easier and is a beautiful and expressive language. It is also imbued with so much spirituality. Be aware that Israelis love and admire foreigners who learn their language and are very tolerant of mistakes.

I am so glad that I purchased this book. It is invaluable and is at my side when I am studying.

I bought this great book from amazon.cn, and it's great for me at least. Well organized and really detailed and specific for each verb. As a self-taught learner, you'll be really grateful to read all those conjugations!
