As an adult (44) who has chosen to pursue an undergraduate degree i was often frustrated at books that assumed i was a senior in high school. Many of the suggestions in most books were completely inappropriate or even impossible when you have been out of school for 26 years!

This book is different. It assumes you have worked, maybe are still working, have a life, some experience, but just don't know much about this "college" thing. This book is aimed at an intelligent but under informed reader. it doesnt really hold your hand, but it does cover the three things i needed 1. reassures me that its not that hard 2. was organized for easy use and 3. approach-ably written.

Like almost any scholarship book, this book was dated the moment it was printed. but the book does tell you how to look things up and keep up to date. do you NEED a book? no, everything is online these days.. but having the "where to look" and some suggestions in print format is greatly reassuring and makes life simpler for those of us lacking in "google fu".

i have serious learning disabilities (dyscalculia) and anxiety issues, and going back to school was nerve wracking .. while i cant say i have gotten any scholarships (yet) i can tell you that the book helped my nerves a great deal.

As an adult returning to college this book was my springboard and provided me with a wealth of information in nagivating the academic maze. Thank you.
