Great Tool For Photography,

After shooting with everything from 35mm to Large Format and recently getting back into Large Format photography I bought a Used 501CM with the 80 CFE F2.8 Lens. I shot with the Mamyia RZ before (which I loved for the Bellow Focusing and incredibly sharp lenses) and was debating whether to buy one or go for the 6x6 format. I also considered Mamyia 7 II but the lenses are much slower and since a lot of my work is avalaible light this was the way to go with the Zeiss lenses.This camera is expensive even now with the digital gear avalaible. But to those that film has the feel they're looking for (and many see the true difference by the characteristics posseses vs. Digital) this camera is a great tool. Its all mechanical and will work in any weather. No Battery! I'm very happy with it complementing my Large Format gear. This is a camera I can do portraits with on quick shoots vs. the Large Format camera which will require much more prep. Given the optics, its the best equivelent in Medium Format to Large Format Lenses. Consider the Hassy as the Leica of Medium Format. |
