Got this, put in the 8 AA batteries and it started to smoke and seemingly burnt out a circuit. I called amazon and they said they would pay for return shipping and refund my money, very nice.

This is not the first GE product that has been a total failure for me. Go with a LED flashlight IMO, more convenient and more dependable than a florescent.

It works, but not very well. If you have 100% darkness in the area you want to use it in then it works decent, but if there is any light in that room then you are out of luck.

I purchased this product for my son's aquarium. He has some Glo-fish and we wanted a light that we could use only when we wanted instead of having to swap out the bulb in the hood. The light worked great....for about 2 minutes. It quit working suddenly. I thought that maybe the bulb had blown, but when I tried to remove the bulb, I couldn't get the cover off no matter how hard I tried. According the the instructions, one end of the light should have popped off to allow you to change the bulb. Short of completely breaking the case (which would have made a return impossible) I could not get the cover off. Very frustrating, but at least Amazon has a good return policy.

I purchased this item in order to make a "GITD Cake" however, within 10 minutes of using it it started smoking, and it felt really hot. I turned it off, and it never worked again. DO NOT BUT THIS PIECE OF JUNK. It is not worth oyur time or money. Shipping was slow as well.
