While there is a brief delay before this bulb is on, this 7 watt gives a reasonable amount of light. Albeit, a bluish tint. I think the manufacturer's claim of "50 watts" is spot on in terms of brightness. So for reading, you'll want to be within a half a meter of this bulb. But if you have a light bulb that you hate changing. This is a great alternative.
