2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Packaging, but...
I bought this book largely based on the prior reviews and the appeal of the cover. I was very disappointed in the content though. The pages are all 8 1/2 x 11 formats and I do 12 x 12 formats. Although there were some appealing layouts, I thought many of the them were very simplistic and not anything I would care to get inspiration from. I don't like that fact that it...

I don't like that fact that it only has ideas from 3 different scrapbookers because they each have a particular style and therefore there is not a lot of variety in the layouts. This is a book more suited to a beginning scrapbooker.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of things to look at, February 26, 2001
By
This review is from: 515 Scrapbooking Ideas (Hardcover)
This book begins with a basic intro to scrapbooking (supplies, pictures, and whatnot), and then showcases four different scrapbookers and various pages from their books.

What we get is a smorgasbord of styles, lots of different uses for different materials, and some ideas to spark your creativity. The pictures are full-color, with four page layouts shown on each page. However, since there are only samples from four different people, the layouts do tend to begin to look alike.

I would recommend checking this book out at the library to test it out before you spend $20 on it. (That's $20 you could be spending on scrapbooking materials!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I'm ready for scrapbooking!, June 15, 2002
This review is from: 515 Scrapbooking Ideas (Paperback)
Some reviewers say this is a book for beginning scrapbookers, and since I am one, I find this book not disappointing at all! So far it's the only scrapbooking book I have, but I did compare it with others before buying it. I chose it because it is packed with photos of completed scrapbook pages, offering an incredible assortment of ideas. I find the general instructions at the beginning of the book quite understandable, and at this point, I feel I can get started without further ado. I doubt I'll make exact copies of the ideas presented, but they certainly give me a base to go on. There are four women scrapbookers who contributed to this book, and each has her own style and offers her own advice and suggestions. I'd say, advanced scrapbookers, I don't know if this book is for you, but beginners....go for it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, January 10, 2002

I love Vanessa Ann. Her designs with cross stitch are absolutely the bomb! She has beautiful designs so when I saw this book I immediately thought this book would be wonderful. I felt that it was very overpriced and not very good. I was disappointed. This is not a must have for the scrapbooker.

This book was just average. The book is filled with a lot of pictures of different scrapbook pages, but no information on how to make the pages yourself. It looks like someone took some pictures of different scrapbook pages and sold it in a book..

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Lay-outs, March 26, 2001

I borrowed this book from our library first, then decided I might want to buy it, just for furture references. Very easy lay-outs, some do appear to be the same after a while, but to get ideas for kids books, they are all fairly simply to do, and look great.I liked the fact that it didn't contain a lot of "written pages"-"how-to" pages, just pictures. Overall, its a good basic, beginners book.

Of all the books I've purchased regarding scrapbooking this is the BEST. It is straight foward and the tips are easy to follow.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its alright, March 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: 515 Scrapbooking Ideas (Paperback)
This book is pretty good, but like reviewers have said before they all start looking the same after awhile. I liked that it had a lot of layout ideas, and not a lot of writing since i can figure out how to do it on my own, but if you like instructions this one is not for you. Mainly my dissapointment in it was that so many layouts only had one one or two photos in them and i like to have more than that on each page.
