Portable basketball systems depend on a base filled with sand or water for stability. Although it will take up more space than an in-ground system, the portable base rolls on wheels, allowing players to position the basketball system in the desired location (and also allowing storage in a garage). Simply assemble, fill the base and play today. There is no fussing with concrete.
What's in the Box?
48-inch polycarbonate backboard with rim, 3.5-inch round pole, nylon basketball net, 38-gallon portable base, all-weather pole pad
Manufacturer's Warranty
Five-year limited warranty

Can be tough to put together but not bad,
By Oracle from Chicago (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RBK (REEBOK) 51547 Courtside Base Height-Adjustable Portable Basketball System with 48-Inch Shatter Guard Fusion (Sports)
When I opened the box and started to put this system together, I too thought that there were many parts missing. The manual is not well written and parts are not organized all that well. But it turned out that everything was there and it was pretty straight forward to put it together. I would say it took about four hours and I had never assembled one before. It probably should have taken less but I had to deal with my three boys (4,6,8) constantly asking when it was going to be done. In any case, it is a solid system with a very nice adjustment mechanism. Highly recommended. By the way, I had two sets of socket wrench which really reduced assembly time. If you try to put this together with a regular wrench set, I believe you will go mad. You also need one 1/2 inch wrench to attach the backboard.

PRODUCT GETS FIVE STARS ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS GET NONE,

I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS BASKETBALL SYSTEM AND I AM GENERALLY VERY HAPPY WITH IT. THE CONSTRUCTION IS SOLID AND APPEARS VERY WELL MADE. AS IT SITS IN MY YARD, IT LOOKS LIKE A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE SYSTEM. THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT IS NEAR EFFORTLESS.THE ONLY CRITICISM AND THE REASON THIS SYSTEM DID NOT GET FIVE STARS IS THE LOUSY ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE UNCLEAR AND INACCURATE IN PARTS. THE HORRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS MAKE ASSEMBLY OF THIS UNIT MORE DIFFICULT THAN IT NEEDS TO BE. LOVE THE HOOP/HATE THE INSTRUCTIONS

Overall I felt this was a relatively straight-forward assembly although there were about 6 bags of various bolts, washers, etc. I agree with the 1st reviewer that 1 person could do most assembly but it goes faster with 2. My wife and I spent about 2.5 hours from box to playing basketball.Keeping in mind that I've never owned a portable basketball goal, I was initally expecting the goal to be much more stable. The goal is sturdy in the way that its not going to tip over and I could probably hang from the rim. However, the first shot I banked off the backboard sent the whole thing into a nice rattle. Its a shame because the majority of the junctions (backboard to pole) are reinforced well, but areas like the pole-base junction are not at all. The goal is only going to be as stable as its weakest link obviously. The next day I quit paying so much attention to the rattling and I guess I didn't notice it as much and now I'm happy with the purchase. It just took some getting used to. The next best goal I was looking at was $350 so I'm happy I saved $80 and got this one which should work just fine for the novice.
