Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Tired of the same old ghost costumes and boring Halloween parties? How about 52 brand new "terrifyingly fun" activities to ensure a howling good time! From "Fiends on Parade" (a costume parade) to "Slime Time" (a recipe for icky, gooey slime) to "Wicked Web" (a yarn game--oh, the tangled webs we unweave!), Halloween will never be the same again! Lynn Gordon, creator of dozens of card decks in the 52 Deck Series (52 Brain Tickling Activities for Kids, 52 Alternatives to TV, 52 Cool Tricks for Kids), is bursting with clever ideas in this crafty little deck. In addition to party games and costume suggestions, Gordon provides historical trivia on Halloween traditions, safety tips, and recipes for some devilishly good treats. Fresh, appealing illustrations of haunted houses, crazy costumes, scavenger hunt maps, and ghostly games enliven each colorfully framed card. Trick-or-treaters of all ages will love this perfect party favor. (Ages 4 and older) --Emilie Coulter --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

2.0 out of 5 stars It is a Deck of Cards., March 13, 2000
By
This is not a book. It is a deck of 52 playing cards. I'm incredibly organized, so I don't have a problem keeping them together but...how are you going to find this tiny box when you need it? And how much information can you fit on a card? Not much.

The ideas are ...so-so. Not very interesting. This is supposed to be for ADULTS, yet they give ideas for things like fingerpainting, playing with play doh, Pin the Tail on the Donkey and other kids games...I'm with my kids all day doing that stuff! When I'm with my friends, no thanks.

Because its a standard size deck of cards, there is very little room to write. So, they give you an idea but there are no instructions. If you aren't good at improvising and don't want to put a lot of thought into implementing the ideas here that you happen to like, don't bother because there is no help in this box for you! I have all the Amazon game books. This one I just don't care for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great informational book, April 17, 2001
This review is from: 52 Ways to Pamper Yourself (Cards)
It appears this another great card series which was just published. I'm glad I got mine right away. I wish it were in the form of a book instead of cards, but nevertheless, the cards are great. They illustrated, well written and easy to follow. They offers many tips on how to pamper yourself in ways I never even dreamed about. The best part is that they're all affordable. It covers everything from spoiling yourself with foods, applying home remedies to your body for sofe and silky skin and hair, to steam baths and pedicures. There's lots more. I thought the little cards were great. You don't need to be rich, famous, or spoiled to treat yourself to a little (or a lot) of pampering. These cards prove that.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best educational gift you can give., September 21, 1999
By A Customer
This is an excellent gift to give to others. I give the cards individually when I write thank you letters or send words of encouragement. I also use them as an educational tool with high school and middle school student leaders. If you work with people or youth, buy a set of these cards.
