5.0 out of 5 stars The best educational gift you can give.
This is an excellent gift to give to others. I give the cards individually when I write thank you letters or send words of encouragement. I also use them as an educational tool with high school and middle school student leaders. If you work with people or youth, buy a set of these cards.

2.0 out of 5 stars It is a Deck of Cards.
This is not a book. It is a deck of 52 playing cards. I'm incredibly organized, so I don't have a problem keeping them together but...how are you going to find this tiny box when you need it? And how much information can you fit on a card? Not much.

The ideas are ...so-so. Not very interesting. This is supposed to be for ADULTS, yet they give ideas for things...

This is not a book. It is a deck of 52 playing cards. I'm incredibly organized, so I don't have a problem keeping them together but...how are you going to find this tiny box when you need it? And how much information can you fit on a card? Not much.

The ideas are ...so-so. Not very interesting. This is supposed to be for ADULTS, yet they give ideas for things like fingerpainting, playing with play doh, Pin the Tail on the Donkey and other kids games...I'm with my kids all day doing that stuff! When I'm with my friends, no thanks.

Because its a standard size deck of cards, there is very little room to write. So, they give you an idea but there are no instructions. If you aren't good at improvising and don't want to put a lot of thought into implementing the ideas here that you happen to like, don't bother because there is no help in this box for you! I have all the Amazon game books. This one I just don't care for.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great informational book, April 17, 2001
This review is from: 52 Ways to Pamper Yourself (Cards)
It appears this another great card series which was just published. I'm glad I got mine right away. I wish it were in the form of a book instead of cards, but nevertheless, the cards are great. They illustrated, well written and easy to follow. They offers many tips on how to pamper yourself in ways I never even dreamed about. The best part is that they're all affordable. It covers everything from spoiling yourself with foods, applying home remedies to your body for sofe and silky skin and hair, to steam baths and pedicures. There's lots more. I thought the little cards were great. You don't need to be rich, famous, or spoiled to treat yourself to a little (or a lot) of pampering. These cards prove that.

I sent this as a gift to a really stressed out person. She enjoyed it immensly. It contains easy little things you can do to decompress for at least a short time without any real effort. Great find!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute cards!, February 24, 2001
By A Customer
This little box set of cards are more aimed to singles and actually included very surprising and helpful tips. The suggestions on the cards range from specific action steps (like going to a new place) to more internal suggestions (like smiling!). I thought they were adorable, illustrated well, and a very clever alternative to having an actual book. I would recommend this set to anyone who is looking for that special someone. Also makes a good gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas for over 6 years old, May 1, 2010
Bought these cards for ideas for pre-school age children when flying, but found the ideas to be better suited to older kids. My mistake - and as I'm not one to give up easily, I just use the ideas and change them to suit my younger children...who are getting older all the time anyway! Great product when I'm tired and need inspiration on long haul flight.

5.0 out of 5 stars 52 Fun Things in the Plane, the Airport, the Car...It's Great!, December 30, 2008
I got this deck when chronicle.com was having its 30% off + free shipping "FRIENDS" code sale, in anticipation of our family trip to Long Island for Christmas.

Before taking an almost-four-year-old on the plane, I packed lots of activities for him to do; but there will always be times when I either can't get something out because the plane is descending, or because he feels he has exhausted the potential of all the things in my backpack. This card deck is perfect for those times...which don't always occur in the plane, by the way--it worked for the car, the bus, the airport, etc.

I did look through the deck before our trip and quickly sorted out the cards that a non-reader could do...this left approximately half the deck (this deck will grow with your child). When we needed an idea, I took a card off the top and ran with it. In most cases, it was just the kernel of the idea that we then adapted, but in all cases, the card provided the different direction or new thing that kept my son occupied and held a breakdown at bay.

This would make a great gift, but it really is for the parent, not necessarily for the child traveler. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, inexpensive gift for 4 - 6 year olds and teachers, April 28, 1999
By A Customer
My son loves to do these simple but educational experiments. This is an excellent and inexpensive gift for 4 - 6 year olds and their parents. In addition, my mother in law, a preschool teacher, has found these experiments to be fun to do in her school.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice format, nothing really unusual, August 23, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This set of things to do is in the format of a deck of mini cards, each of which contains a different Chicago experience. While there is certainly plenty of choice in this product, the content is very ordinary except for the traveler who has never been to Chicago before.
