4.0 out of 5 stars Girls Just Want to Have Fun..., October 30, 2007
This review is from: 52 Broad Street (Paperback)
52 Broad Street by Diane Dorce' could serve as a cautionary tale for young ladies looking for love. Shantique, Marinette and Nikko, are friends for life, young women in their early twenties on the lookout for the hot boys. Shantique became a mother as a teenager but that did not stop her from graduating and having dreams for herself. When she meets X, the hottest rapper, she feels her dreams may be answered. Marinette is the ultimate playgirl who is being financed by a major softball player, however, when she meets Ro, the basketball superstar, she feels she has found her jackpot. Nikko, the biracial beauty, is interested in becoming a dancer, though her father's dream is for her to become a doctor. A chance encounter with Laron, a bestselling singer, may stand in the way of what she has worked so hard to accomplish These young ladies are young, beautiful and all for having a good time. What they come to learn is that everything that glitters is not gold.

We are allowed to peek into the lives of three girls from Atlanta who have grown up together and are usually there for one another. They bring different outlooks and personalities to the relationship but they are friends for life. But are they? In a few short months, these friends will have their friendships and very lives threatened in a way that neither of them could have anticipated after a chance trip to the mall.

52 Broad Street is a fast-paced novel about how easy it is to get caught up in the game without knowing all of the rules. The advanced reader copy had punctuation and grammar issues that once corrected in final edits will only enhance the story for readers who enjoy novels dealing with current issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars witty urban drama fill with punches, November 5, 2007
This review is from: 52 Broad Street (Paperback)
Everyone has a dream to be rich and fabulous, even the young ladies on "52 Broad Street", regardless of how they attempt to achieve their dream! I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary urban drama that reflects so much of today's society and the lessons that the characters learned on the way.
