This is the best Hold'em poker book. Ever!,
This review is from: 52 Tips for Texas Hold 'em Poker (Paperback)
I received this book as a gift, along with a subscription to Card Player Magazine. I have to say that like the magazine, this book is GREAT!
I am fairly new to poker, but my results improved almost immediately after I incorporated the strategies from Shulman's book. 52 TIPS FOR TEXAS HOLD'EM is simple and concise. It provides someone who has played little or no Hold'em with a sound basic strategy that will add to both his enjoyment of the game and his bottom line. Best of all, it presents a strategy that helps you steer clear of many of the common pitfalls in Hold'em, pitfalls that can quickly erode your cash. Staying out of potentially dangerous situations is very important to a new player like me. I believe that all players will find benefits to their game by reading this book, since a true mastery of poker involves not only learning concepts, but also remembering and putting them into practice.

If you are an avid poker book reader and player you will find some very useful and profitable tips here. Not the greatest book on holdem but one of those reminder books that gets you thinking about the little things you did or didn't do the last time you played. I actually put a couple of the tips on index cards and set them next to the computer last time I played online. All in all a very helpful book and an easy read.

This book changed me from being a beginner who regularly lost at Hold 'em, into a confident player with faith in a proven system that consistently shows a profit, and I cannot speak too higly of it. The book is extremely easy to follow and digest, and leads seamlessly from one section to the next. The chapters on the importance of position and how it should affect your bets are worth the price of the book on their own, and they have helped me become a stronger and more confident player. I only have two more words to say. Buy it!

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand Limit Holdem and anyone who plays cash games. Lots of useful information and strategy. It covers everything from the most basic concepts through more advanced strategy. I have read a lot of poker books, and this is one I will keep in my library and read over and over.

Things you should already know about poker,

This book is for beginners, and even then you would be much better off getting another book. I started out with an Internet Poker guide, and moved onto Harrington on Holdem I and II.
Pass on this book unless you have never played poker in your life.

As the previous poster said this book is only handy if it's a gift. I read this book in quite a short time (about 30 minutes) it was quite an interesting read but whether it was worth purchasing is questionable.
Tip 1 - Don't write a book when we have no idea who you are Tip 2 - Don't give tips when you yourself aren't successful using them. Tip 3-52 - 5 minus 2 = 3 , 3-3 = zero , zero is the number of useful tips in this book. |
