Book Description

52 Weekends April 1, 2009
A striking photograph on the front - and on the back, a compelling description that explains why this is an essential trip for any tourist or resident. Some weekends involve iconic road trips, some trips are unknown even to longtime residents, and some are once-a-year events such as holiday weekends or Christmas and New Year's events. The text includes descriptions of what, when, where, and how - as well as URLs, toll-free numbers, basic directions, and enough information to Google the rest. Most important, each card includes the why. * Destinations range from famous and iconic to unusual or unique * Cards are categorized for Arts & Culture, Events, Recreation/Sports, and Food & Drink. * 6 icons indicate whether the destination is kid-friendly, dog-friendly, accessible by mass transit or bike, handicap-accessible, and free or inexpensive.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Planning a trip to the Northwest? Don't leave without 52 Weekends in Seattle or 52 Weekends in Oregon card decks--colorful, easy-to-transport guides that describe affordable, art-filled weekends.

The Seattle deck includes well-known favorites like Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, but it also features parks, gardens and museums such as Olympic Sculpture Park and the Seattle Art Museum. Lesser-known points of interest include the Snoqualmie Falls and Winery Tour.

The Portland, Ore., deck is oriented toward outdoor activities with numerous parks, lakes and natural wonders to explore. Surprise highlights are the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, the Underground Walking Tour and Vineyards of Willamette Valley.

Both card decks feature stunning photography. Each card provides directions, and refers you to more cards detailing other activities close by." --American Style Magazine

Review

"52 Weekends in Oregon," a collection of cards published by WestWinds Press, a division of Graphic Arts Center Publishing of Portland, is colorful and full of fun ideas. It includes trips to Powell's City of Books and the Nature of Words literary festival in Bend and is a nice way to discover the state."

Have you ever shopped for folks who don't need anything? My parents are just those folks. Well this gift has brought much joy into there world. Since they like to drive and enjoy Oregon this gift was just the best excuse to go somewhere.

Here is how it works. My folks drop the cards on the table and pick a card out and make plans to the place on the card. It has been a great gift.
