Great pictures and ideas; poor instructions,
This review is from: #5292 Tim Holtz Distressables 2 (Paperback)
This book is best taken as a source of inspiration rather than a step by step instruction book as it is presented. The pictures are great and the ideas are original and very creative but the instructions for replicating the projects are lacking in specifics. If you're looking for a how-to book this is not good. If you want ideas and inspiration it is a very fun and unique book to look at. You cannot beat the creativity of Tim Holtz.

This book is amazing and it will make your head spin with ideas. Instructions for the projects are included but they are not complete and you must come up with some of your own ideas. Great book for inspiration but not so great if you are trying to replicate exactly. I would buy it again without question.

This review is from: #5292 Tim Holtz Distressables 2 (Paperback)
I've been scrapbooking for a short time and was turned onto Tim Holtz just last October. I immeditely fell in love with the Ranger products and especially the results. It is more my style. I like vintage, dark, and out of order rather than bright and orderly. When I first browsed through this book I was excited and full of inpiration. But now that I'm actually ready to do the projects I find that it is lacking instructions. There are even some items pictured with absolutely no instructions. I thought, "Maybe I should get the first book." Only to find that it's selling for about $50-75. This is really out of my price range, but I read the reviews that it has real directions in it. I don't understand why they would NOT put detailed instructions in this book if they put them in the first book. It would boost their sales in their products if people knew what to do with them. This book is for people who are already familiar with techniques and products. This is more like a picture book. Don't waste your money to look at pictures when you can look at them for free on the internet.
