Great Product at a fraction of the cost advertised in Astronomy magazines. This 5 mw. pointer sends pencil sized beam useful in astronomy to point out particular stars to budding astronomy buddies. I used the pointer for the first two times to show two novice astronomers the guide star to locate Comet 17P/ Holmes. After quickly pointing at the star in Persius with the laser pointer, both were able to locate the star immediately and have Comet Holmes in their field of view of their binoculars.

My wife had been skeptical at its use until she saw for herself how accurate we could point out individual stars.

This pointer looks like it reaches the stars in a dark sky. It's a bit harder to see in light polluted skies. For 20 bucks it's an excellent value. I would have given it five stars if shipping wasn't calculated based on 4 lbs. The actual weight is less than 1 lb.

I have been interested in ordering a green laser pointer, so I read the reviews and I thought I'd give this a try. It turned out WAY BETTER THAN EXPECTED for such a cheap product. I turned out all the lights in my kitchen as soon as I opened the package and there was the beam. Then I took it outside. The beam was amazingly bright! I was astounded. If you're looking for a nice laser pointer, go ahead and buy this.

note: Not recommended for presentations. It's almost too bright!

edit: also, the button is rather annoying when it sticks, which it has done on occasion.
