5.0 out of 5 stars As advertized
I don't like leaving a 5 star review, as no item is perfect. That said, I gave this item 5 stars as it is exactly what it was advertised to be. When I opened the paracord (which was shipped quickly by the way) I could see the 7 strands inside. The paracord holds my weight, 240 lbs, with not problem - which is what I was looking for. You shouldn't use this to clime...

2.0 out of 5 stars Bought Para Cord
The cord I received was not cut well at all. Right off the bat I had to easily sacrifice 2 feet in order to properly prevent it from fraying. Also, I found a few cuts in the sheath of the rope around it. As I bought it for knot tying practice, it is ok. But I was going to actually use it for working loads, I would return it immediately. Also, it is some of the most...

You shouldn't use this to clime mountains, there is better rope for that. But, it makes for great looking and long lasting shoelaces, camping line etc. I bought it for my knife, but I have found myself using it for everything. I highly recommend keeping some in your emergency kit, your car and anywhere else you may find yourself needing it at some future point. This stuff doesn't rot, so it will be there when you need it. It may not be military grade (I can't say if it is or isn't myself), but I'm not going to be storming Iraq any time soon, so if it's not, that's okay by me.

This is a nice tight braid, not as soft as the harware store "clothesline" grade stuff. I want to point out that the package I received does have one hundred feet, not inches. The picture of the product label is correct, the link text (550lb. Type III Paracord 100" Black) is not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all around use., April 21, 2011
This review is from: 550lb. Type III Paracord 100' Black (Misc.)
Ah... Paracord. Its a lovely nylon mix apart from being amazingly strong and thinner than a pencil. It can be stretched out to secure items and is very unlikely to snap or brake. In the boot camp I had a teammate that didn't have great memory so we attached his items to his pant's with Paracord. Took us long enough to cut it off him when he learned his lesson. It can be used for emergency climbing but, I don't suggest it since the small rope can flatten out and burn your hands badly. Then again if it's an emergency I don't think rope burn is your biggest worry. Over all paracord is wonderful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleased a Handy Product, May 23, 2011

Got this for my emergency backpack. It is black and actually lightweight. The cord has seven white strands inside you can see it when you cut it. I was a bit frustrated because when I cut it it would fray and was hard to put back thru other items. I solved that problem by just lighting the end with a lighter to stop the fraying and it works fine. It wraps up nicely and will be in my backpack and attached to a lot of gear for easy access such as zippers and so on.

I recommend the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars 550 Parachute cord is like Duct Tape! You need it!, September 25, 2011
This review is from: 550lb. Type III Paracord 100' Black (Misc.)
This is the real deal, 550 pound capacity parachute cord. Can be used to make a fan belt for a car, a Swiss seat for rappelling, or to hold a tarp for a shelter. This cord has so many uses, you need to have some on hand. Black matches everything and looks cool too. Use this in place of laces on your combat boots. Make a handgun lanyard out of this. Tie wood to your car roof. Only has 550 pound capacity if you do not remove the inner strands though! Nylon parachute cord is like duct tape, it can help you do many things. However, it will melt in a fire so do not use near flames. Keep some handy everywhere.

Saw a survival show where the 550 cord was used in multiple ways so I purchased the cord. Since I always carry an emergency pack even when I go on a day hike this paracord was an ideal addition. Light, compact, & strong. Item was resonably priced & propmtly received.

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfactory and Really Strong Cord., September 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 550lb. Type III Paracord 100' Black (Misc.)
To be clear I was under the impression that paracord of a decent bit thicker when I first purchased this paracord from USA Imports. It is about the size of a basketball/tennis shoe shoelace. But don't let the size fool you, this cord is REALLY strong. It took 3 people being suspended from a single length, with two figure eight follow-through knots on either end, to break this cord (I am 175lbs my brother is 250lbs and my friend is 200). I have used this cord to tie bachmann hitches to jumar up a rope in a tree. It is nylon so it does fray and melt with repeat rubbings and abuse. Otherwise this cord is probably not official military spec but it more then strong enough and quality for me.

its a strong cheap cord that is useful for survival situations, we depended on this cord a lot in the military and used it for makeshift everything.

I used some of the paracord on a flag pole and it works great, no problems so far. I would buy this again.
