Let me start by saying that our shop is almost exclusively JET. We love their products and have not had any issues to date. Support is great, and you can get replacement parts next day.

That said, this is a unit they obviously repackaged 'as-is' from an off-shore shop. The unit arrived in what appears to have once been a cardboard box which the heavy metal components were simply thrown into without any padding. The package was held together with rolls of shipping tape apparently applied by different shipping firms to try to hold it together until it arrived. Most jet units come carefully packaged and braced.

Instead of the usually flawless JET paint finish, this one appears to have been painted with clumps of grass and mud. The entire surface is covered with paint ridges and gouges almost 1/8" thick.

Mechanically, the unit simply does not go together, and isn't designed for durability. The cooling tray has a bolt that tightens against the column but there is no locking hole to keep it from working loose and falling. The locking hole on the top of the column is drilled the wrong size and is not tapped to take the locking bolt. The bottom stand attaches like the old fashioned Christmas tree stands with 3 bolts you snug up until the pipe deforms, whereupon it continues to wobble.

I love JET, and I'll keep buying their equipment, but this particular piece is junk. I'm disappointed JET sells it.

After receiving the stand I read mediocre reviews complaining about it's stability. So, after putting the stand together I realized why there were complaints. Tightening the set screws dents the vertical tube the base and table are mounted on and before I dented my vertical tube, I center punched the base and table holes onto the vertical tube and ran the allen socket head bolts from inside the vertical tube instead of fromthe outside using. This made a wiggly stand into a solid best bang for the buck tool stand.

Stand arrived in ripped up box with no packing material at all. Directions and hex wrench were missing if they were supposed to come with it (I could put my shoe in the two holes in the box they were so big). No holes are drilled or taped to hold anything. I tightened up the hex bolts against the support column (I assume that is what is intended, but still had play in the platform.) So I decided to tap the platform and tray to the support column and used the provided hex bolts included. I feel this is a must if you don't want play in the platform or coolant tray to slide around over time. Or you can drill holes in the pole and use bolts, washers, and nuts to secure. I found this would be very difficult to tighten properly given the diameter of the pole inside. Without the right tools this stand is not a good choice and you will be happier with another purchase. Not the usual JET paint/finish and attention to detail. It is solid now after modifications, but would not recommend to anyone because there are better ones out there. Stand fits the 8in DW758 Dewalt grinder and 8 inch Jet grinder.

I received my stand from Amazon in good shape in the Jet packaging. I heeded the advice of an earlier reviewer and drilled out the holes in the base and the pedestal and used 5/16 bolts with nuts and flat and then lock washers. Whole process took about a half hour. My 8" Jet grinder lined right up without any problem and has become very ridged combination. No vibration and it does all a pedestal stand could do.
The little shelf with the quenching pot is a convenient addition.

This stand goes perfectly with the bench grinder. In fact, based on the configuration and number of holes on the top plate, this stand could be used for any number of bench grinders. I mounted Jet's 6 inch bench grinder to this stand and I am very glad that I did. The stand assembles easily and fulfills every need I have.

One bad point. This stand is made I n China. Like so many other overseas items, the item that is in the box is way too heavy for the box. Amazon shipped it and it arrived all beat up. I was lucky that no parts fell out during transit. The manufacturer could beef up the box for transit. There's no way that the freight companies would even consider handling things better.......Nah! That'd be too easy!

I am surprised nothing was lost in shipment because of the packaging, but I knew this was an issue from other reviews. Other wise I put 3 rubber mounting pads on the ground and mounted this thing into the concrete, it works awesome and was very reasonable on the cost.

had no trouble assembling it. I mounted it to the floor and with the one HP grinder attached it is a stable work platform. I would recommend it, well worth the money.
