I have been taking pictures of my granddaughter playing basketball. In April and May, I did not have this white balance tool. Even though I tried using the in camera white balance selections (Tungsten or Fluorescent) my colors were off because of the lights. I bought this custom white balance tool before she started playing basketball in September. It has made a remarkable difference. The skin tones are much nicer, the colors inside the gym are more accurate. The price is affordable as compared to a "Expodisc". I am pleased with the results. The down side is: It comes with a plastic filter ring that the cap snaps onto. This plastic ring is very hard to thread onto the camera lens. I pitched that ring and just use it on my UV/Skylight filter when making the custom white balance adjustment.

The white balance setting with this lens cap is quite useful. It is nice to just pop on the cap take a quick shot and use it later for white balance adjustment. The strap is also very nice, because I would have probably lost the cap long time ago without it. But, the biggest problem with this product is it's poor quality! The ring that screws in has the worst threads I've ever seen. It is a pain to screw it in or out. Keep in ming that the ring is the last thing that goes onto the lens. So, if you decide you want to put on the polarizing filter, you have to unscrew it, put the filter and screw it back in. Imagine doing that with these terrible threads that are nearly impossible to properly align. A huge pain. Good idea, but I only wish the quality was just a bit better.

It is true, as other reviewers have stated, that the thread mount does not work so smoothly. However, it is simple enough and sufficient just to fit the cap over the lens (without use of the thread) for purposes of setting a custom white balance. I have been using the product for several weeks now, and it has made a substantial difference in my ability to set a proper white balance. Without this device, I often had difficulty with my DSLR (an Olympus E-500) recognizing sufficient light for purposes of setting a custom balance. I am pleased with the results I have gotten using this product. Of course, the price could not be better. I have seen similar products retailing at camera shops for $50. I cannot believe that a more expensive product would lead to materially better results so as to justify the price difference.

I received my white balance lens cap today. I agree with the other reviewers that the threading on the cap is terrible. Also if you plan to use this to set your white balance in a room with dim lighting, do not bother purchasing this product as it is simply useless for the purpose. I have not tried the white balance lens cap in a bright setting yet but am hopeful that it will be more useful.

It takes less than 30 seconds to pop this cap over your lens and set a custom white balance, and the time is well worth it for the results. I've used it in obvious mixed light situations, such as in arenas with both natural light and artificial light, but also in less obvious spots, such as in deep shade on sunny days when some reflected light is coming into the scene from a nearby colored structure or mountainside. In both of these situations, and many others, the camera's white balance presets are insufficient. Once you try this product and see how pleasing the results are from setting a custom white balance for your photographs, you will begin to see mixed lighting everywhere and want to use this cap more and more.

At least one other review complains about the threads. You do not need to use the threaded mount to use this cap, and it is unreasonable to expect quality threads on a cap which costs just a few dollars. I have a clear filter over the front elements of my lenses for protection, and I would not want to permanently add any more threads anyway for fear of vignetting. I keep this cap in an outer pocket of my camera bag, and I slip it into my pants pocket when shooting. To use it, just slip over the front of the lens, set your white balance, take the cap off, and you are on your way. To store the lens, continue to use the manufacturer's dedicated lens cap.

Good product for white balance adjustment. Only used it a little, but I can see better results. The included threaded ring is a hassle, but the actual lens cap fits on the filter snugly.

It's been a long time just using white bond paper to set up the WB, and now finally got one, perfect fit and just turn the autofocus to manual from lens and take the shot then set it, now its ready to take a picture.
Really love this lens cap, use this every light changing from indoor & outdoor, perfect color if set to custom WB. really recommend to all, one more thing thanks to Amazon and the seller advance in one day shipping Thank you!

While I got this at a great price, it really goes to show you get what you pay for. The thread is so fine that it is impossible to thread onto your lens. Yes, I checked to make sure that I had the right size, that was not the issue. Good thing it was so cheap or I would have been mad I wasted the money. Spend the extra money and get a better one.

The White Balance Cap is an amazing little piece of equipment. It really does make a huge difference in the white balance on photos. I agree with what others say about the threading on the ring not working but it didn't bother me at all. I just hold it up take the photo and that seems to work great. I don't think I would want to take the time to screw it in every time then unscrew it. Great little product especially for the price!

With this lens cap you can easily setup a custom white balance in seconds! It also doubles as a permanent lens cap. Its economically priced and less cumbersome and more durable than gray cards or white paper.
