Great success so far! The birds seem to really like the moving water and I like knowing that I am not breading mosquitoes. I have witnessed birds drinking and also taking little baths. It's easy to set-up and quiet. I only wish the product had an "off" switch I could use (it doesn't) while changing the water. I bought the ceramic top version because I thought the top...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting garden accessory...
I have had this product for about 2 months. We always have tons of birds at our feeder, but not many at our bird bath. I was hoping to draw more birds to the bird bath, and a different variety of birds to my garden. I have seen a few more birds using the bath, but honestly, not that many more that I can attribute it to the wiggler and not the hotter weather. This...

Great success so far! The birds seem to really like the moving water and I like knowing that I am not breading mosquitoes. I have witnessed birds drinking and also taking little baths. It's easy to set-up and quiet. I only wish the product had an "off" switch I could use (it doesn't) while changing the water. I bought the ceramic top version because I thought the top screw looked a bit unattractive on the unit. The ceramic top has an added bonus because it makes the unit heavier (won't blow in the wind, etc.) I use mine in a deck mounted (heated in the winter) birdbath. Therefore, sometimes the birdbath tilts slightly to one side. The water wiggler seems to stay put. I am happy to learn that I will be able to use in when I plug my (heated) birdbath in for the winter. My birdbath seems to be the perfect depth, but the water wiggler directions state that the bath can't be too deep (to submerge the little moter). If so, you will need to prop the unit up on something (I hear a ceramic tray turned over from a pot works well). However, without going too deep, the unit seems to produce the most rippling effect in the water if the water is as deep as possible. The manufacturer states that the two "D" batteries are supposed to last two months before changing. I cannot comment on that since I have only had mine for a month (and so far, it's going strong without any problems!). Since I bought the water wiggler, I have recommended it to several other people.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wiggler, June 17, 2009

I had orderd the glazed wiggler to go with the color of my bird bath.
However they company sent the wrong one, I recieved the light up change color. I was going to return it but my kids thought it would look cool and suggesed I keep it. Well I LOVE it! The colors are beautiful, vibrant and adds to my garden. (Goes through every color of the rainbow including hot pink and teal) It also shuts off after 3 hours so It's not on all night.
Now that the water is moving I have a lot more birds visiting, and keeps the mosquitoes from reproducing.
Gave 4 stars for the mistake but really love it.

I like this Wiggler much better than the plastic kind I used to have. There is no short plastic screw with a slot in the top to get out of shape and let water in.
My original plastic Wiggler also lost its seal. If the ceramic one does that too I'll modify my review.

This product works well and the batteries lasted the whole season with it running 24/7. It is working so far to keep away the crows away who were dumping whole peanuts in my birdbath to soften for later. They were making quite the mess. The product works especially well to keep mosquitos from using the birdbath as a breeding ground. Don't ever break the ceramic cover because a replacement will cost you dearly. I bought the unglazed ceramic cover and spray painted it to match my granite colored birdbath. Looks great, but someone had a bit of curiosity about the device, picked it up, and dropped the cover, breaking it. It would be nice if ceramic covers came in more colors. This time I will have the unglazed cover, glazed and kiln fired by a local potter so it matches the birdbath. Overall, a very good idea and one that works as it says it does, but a bit pricey...but where else can one get one?

Patience is the first thing you must have with this product.
What seemed like a very simple matter in putting the components together became a maddening project of redoing it many times before it held together.
Once this was done again patience....my many birds ignored it for over 3 weeks....BUT once one brave bird took the plunge they were soon lined up to get in to the spin of things....
As it takes up a good space in the bird bath you do need a good size bath that is flat and not over a couple inches of water...I actually ended up using a very large ceramic flower pot bottom...
I think it is high priced for what it is but it is really fun to have for the birds who made good use of it after they tried it...I am thinking they should write this review!

This product also claimes to reduce the black gunk at the bottom of the bath, and it definitley does not do that. As for mosquito control, I'll have to take the products word for it. Overall, I like the moving water aspect and will probably keep it in my bath.

This is the third Water Wiggler that I've ordered. Can't always change the water in the bird baths every day and this keeps the mosquitoes from laying eggs. Everyone notices it too so it's kind of decorative. Would recommend it to everyone who has bird baths.
