4.0 out of 5 stars Works, but short life
I have had two of these. The second had this green terra cover. The first lasted 2 years with adjustments for battery life and problems with the little spinning arms. This second one I have had for about 8 months. Ready for a new one now.

The biggest issue is the spinning arms. The rubber comes apart from the base they are on and deteriorates. They then stop...

1.0 out of 5 stars Makes no sense to have something in birdbath that can't get wet!
This product makes no sense...it's very difficult to keep something in a birdbath from getting wet. Mine got wet in a recent rain (the water level got too high) and no longer works now that it's dried out. A waste of money...who has time to predict the weather and rescue the water wiggler from every rain?

I have had two of these. The second had this green terra cover. The first lasted 2 years with adjustments for battery life and problems with the little spinning arms. This second one I have had for about 8 months. Ready for a new one now.

The biggest issue is the spinning arms. The rubber comes apart from the base they are on and deteriorates. They then stop spinning. The last one I glued with super glue several times until it was just rotten. Water got into the casing and ruined the battery compartment. This one has the ceramic shell on top to protect a bit more, but the little spinning arms still have a problems with rotting (the rubber). This one had a spare in the case and I thankfully put those on. That was 3-4 weeks ago. Now the who spinning assembly has come off and I don't know where it is (maybe in washing the bird bath it got washed into the yard.

I really like this item, but due to the replacements (I did not mention that you have to continually pull leaves out of the assembly and wash it off...that is normal maintenance), it is fairly expensive. I think it ought to either be cheaper, or they should rethink the spinning arm and make it so it does not rot/come apart. The spare rubber pieces do help, but how about a design fix?

I have used several products of this type but this is the first one with the pottery cover. It is well worth the extra cost over the ones with just the plain plastic top. It prevents rain from entering the housing of the wiggler and just looks so much better. This wiggler works very effiently and is not so loud as to distub the wildlife while they drink. Oh yes, I have more than birds at my birdbath. I have squirrels, butterflies and chipmunks as well as a very wide assortment of birds. They are all welcome and we get much joy watching them sip the water then jump in for a good splash about. We are very pleased with this water wiggler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glazed Pottery Water Wiggler, February 28, 2009

I am extremely happy with my 'wiggler'. I am glad that I chose to go for the glazed pottery cover, as living in the deep south, I think the sun would have ruined the plastic cover. The extra money is well spent. The cover is very attractive. The ease of puting the 'wiggler' together is a 1, on a scale of 1-5. The instructions about measuring the depth of the bird bath are important. I found a sample piece of granite to bring my 'wiggler' up to the proper height. I like the fact that I was also supplied with replacement parts. My 'wiggler' is sitting in a Talavera bird bath so looks great. Highly recommend this product.

We bought this item so that our water would not stagnate in our bird bath and for the most part it works well. You will still have to watch for build up of algae on the moveable part of this product because it will stop. It looks a lot nicer then the plain white water wiggler.

4.0 out of 5 stars Attracts birds, November 23, 2008
This review is from: API 5WWGS Water Wiggler with Sage Green Glazed Pottery Cover (Lawn & Patio)
The water wiggler attracts birds, and the sage green pottery cover looks nice. The paddle portion of the wiggler inserts into a pin at the base of the wiggler. The hole in my paddle assembly was too loose, and the paddle kept falling out. I called the manufacturer, and they promptly sent me a replacement paddle assembly at no cost. So far the new paddle assembly has stayed put; however, the design would be better if the paddle assembly snapped into place rather than relying on a friction fit. Overall, I am happy with the product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke almost instantly- never worked anyway., November 3, 2008

This was really cute when I saw it online. I ordered it and put it in my birdbath. Unfortunately, I noticed baby mosquitos swimming in birdbath like it was a sauna only days later.

Also, the legs are flimsy and it fell over many times. This caused the machine to flood out and become water damaged.

What a waste.

This works well, sometimes the wiggler drops out but not too tricky to put back in the hole, this does run 24-7. The birds are getting use to it, I don't see that it draws more birds yet, scared the birds at first.

I worry what will happen if it gets knocked over? etc. 2 D batteries in it. I guess it will just short out? Really no clue which bothers me, and no answer in the info sent, don't want to electrocute anybody. The birds don't bath in the bird bath, which is large, they do drink.

Too pricey for what it is but Amazon had free shipping so that helps. Really not thrilled with it. I had a milk jug filled with water with a pin hole punched in it hanging over the bath that drew more birds. We birders might just want to save our $35 bucks for bird seed? And hang a free empty milk jug on a tree limb over the bath, covered mine with a basket. Happy birding!!

I've had a plain white plastic water wiggler for 5 yrs. When went to buy a new one found it w/the ceramic cover which really "dresses" it up. Now if the plastic one needs to be replaced, will be able to order it alone and keep using the ceramic cover. Because of the weight, it really helps to "stabalize" the wiggler. I would recommend it to friends that like to watch (and make sure the birds have water) in their yards.

The Water Wiggler is fabulous. It keeps the water moving and birds fly in often to bathe. Amazon's price was $10 less than elsewhere. I will probably purchase another.
