I've been listening to Dream Theater for a while now, and I was looking for something fresh in the progressive metal scene, that's how I found this gem. Actually, I don't quite understand how such talented people can be so unknown. Especially, because I find them to be better artists than the prog. metal gods of Dream Theater. The music of Dreamscape is sophisticated, and it is certainly not for everyone. You need to pay attention to the music, and the music only. These songs require you to listen to them more than once, to understand what each musician is doing. Then you can really appreciate their art. The masterpiece, which is in my opinion the best song on this album is "5th Season", the title song, which is a 15 minute epic, with so much musical virtuosity, so much energy and emotion that you can't resist but listen again... and then again. I highly recommend this album to everyone who likes intelligent and artistic music, and is ready to take one step further into the realm of melodic progressive metal. You won't regret it.

I love this band..Take Dream Theater add a little more heavy riffs and you have Dreamscape. if you enjoy Symphony X, Circus Maximus, Darkwater, Vanden Plas then you'll love Dreamscape. The entire album kicks, great riffs, melodies, musicanship and excellent production!.An excellent addition to any Prog collection.

It is sad to say that this record will be the last of the original lineup, but at least they went out with a blast. I love Dreamscapes music and this record IMOP is their best. Full of Middle eastern rhythms and just great, creative music. They saved the best for last!

I have been listening to progressive rock for many years, and cannot believe that it took me until 2011 to discover Dreamscape. I was growing tired of my current music collection, which is quite vast, and looking for some new bands to get into. "5th Season" is one of approximately 15 "new" albums that I decided to download after reading reviews and listening to samples. It has turned out to be one the best albums in my ENTIRE collection. I knew after listening to about the first 60 seconds of the album that I had stumbled across something special.Without going into technical or detailed explanations, this is one heck of a band, solid from top to bottom. Great singer, guitarist, drummer, and quite possibly the best keyboardist I have ever heard. I quickly downloaded their "End of Silence" album and was equally, if not more, impressed. The track "End of Light" from that album ranks right up there with the best song that any other band has ever recorded. When I later found out that the band had split up, I was dumbfounded. How could a band this good, that was poised to become one of the greatest prog-rock groups ever, call it quits?? Oh well, at least they left us with a couple of gems to enjoy for many years to come. |
