Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Formed back 1991, Labyrinth released so far 5 albums on different labels such as Metal Blade, Century Media and Arise Records. Labyrinth was one of the biggest Italian bands together with Rhapsody and they had a lot of success with the album "Return Of Heaven Denied" with sales close to 100.000 copies and featuring European tours with Hammerfall, Primal Fear, Helloween and Nocturnal Rites. They have also played in big festivals such as Gods Of Metal, Dynamo and Rock Machina. They have a huge fanbase in the Prog-Metal scene and this album will match the attention of fans of Dream Theater and Angra. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars New Labyrinth...YES!!!, April 27, 2007
This review is from: 6 Days to Nowhere (Audio CD)
This Italian Power Metal band had been one of my faves ever since the godly Return To Heaven Denied in '98. Despite their founding guitarist Olaf Thorsen leaving to concentrate on Vision Divine, then adding a new guitarist, and then their bass player leaving the fold...they soldier on! Over the years, becoming more and more of a progressive band with each successive release, they never did abandon their "core" power metal sound. This is one interesting listen here, you may find it a little challenging and "choppy" at first. The rewards are plentiful, Roberto's sincere heartfelt vocals, the lush melodies and arrangements, and wonderful instrumentation throughout should leave any lover of "true" music spellbound. I could go on and on, but just check it out, your ears and your heart will truly appreciate it! Fave song is What??
STAY METAL!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Tears are falling from a heaven gone" , April 10, 2007

This review is from: 6 Days to Nowhere (Audio CD)
In many ways this album is typical Labyrinth with dynamic arrangements, excellent band interplay, and yet another solid lead vocal performance from Roberto Tiranti. Having skipped Labyrinth's last album "Freeman" altogether because of poor reviews due in large part to the sub-par production value, I was delighted when sampling the music on "6 Days to Nowhere" to hear crystal clear sound. The production is as good as on their wholly inspired self-titled release. The first three songs blast forth with forceful grace but thereafter not all the music demands your attention, as I felt it did on their self-titled album. There is even yet another cover version of the Beatles' "Come Together" to be found here, as well, which is only slightly interesting and almost superflous when considering how many songs are on this release as it is. However, there are many shining moments that will have me returning for more. The songwriting often sparkles with inspiration, though its brilliance is rarely blinding, and it continues to become more relevant with repeat visists. This is certainly a good album, well above average due to the intelligent arrangements and sheer talent of the musicians, but it simply cannot sustain a masterpiece level of excellence throughout. Newcomers should begin with their self-titled release or "Return to Heaven Denied", their heralded and most successful album, as a first purchase. Running time:(57:13)
