6 Killer Bodies by Stephanie Bond, June 1, 2009
Well, I've enjoyed the entire 'Body Movers' series from Stephanie Bond, but I must say I'm a little peeved. Everything I had read intimated that "Killer Bodies" would be the last book of the series. Apparently not! It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, I did, very much...but I was expecting ALL the issues to be resolved. Silly me.
Carlotta feels a bit like Chicken Little. Now that the cops have arrested her 'friend' Cooper, everyone seems to be convinced he's the 'Charmed Killer'...everyone but Carlotta. No matter how much evidence seems to be piling up, she just can't shake her belief in Cooper. And that's not Carlotta's only problem. The escaped, insane, former co-worker who tried to kill her is still on the loose and, as far as Carlotta is concerned, HE's a great suspect for the 'charmed' killings. And her former fiance Peter, who dumped her when her father and her family's wealth disappeared, is pressing her to deepen their relationship. And then there's her brother Wes, 19 years old. He's more of a child to Carlotta since she's the one who raised him for the last ten years...he's in BIG trouble--woman trouble, drug trouble, and mob trouble. Poor Carlotta would really like it if she only had to handle one problem at a time!
If you haven't read the previous five books, for goodness sakes don't start here. This series is filled with mystery, romance, and humor. Carlotta has three, count 'em three, men on a string and STILL can't decide which is right for her. She doesn't walk, but RUNS, where angels fear to tread in her efforts to clear her friends and find the killer and there are more red herrings than on a Maine fishing boat! I think I suspected just about everybody in the darn book, before the real killer was revealed.
"6 Killer Bodies" does have closure...of a sort. The 'Charmed Killer' mystery is solved. The mystery of Carlotta's father is not, but he does make another appearance. Wesley's issues become better...and more convoluted at the same time. And Carlotta's men...are still her men since there's just something special about each one. If only she could make a composite!
I did enjoy this book. Stephanie Bond knows how to mix humor, mystery, and romance and come up with intriguing stories and great plotting. But there's no way this is the last we've heard about Carlotta. So now I'm off to do more research on when I can expect the next installment in her crazy, mixed-up life.

6 Killer Bodies Keeps a Great Series Going, June 7, 2009
If you are new to Stephanie Bond and the Body Movers series, then back up to Book One and start there! The trilogy within the series began in Book 4, 4 Bodies and a Funeral, amped up the action in 5 Bodies to Die For, and wraps up in 6 Killer Bodies.
But the action for Carlotta Wren isn't what wrapped up here, just the mystery of the Charmed Killer, so named for the charm bracelet pieces he leaves in the mouth of his victims. Bond leaves us wondering who Carlotta will ultimately choose as a love interest, what will happen with her fugitive parents, and if Carlotta's errant brother Wesley will stay on the straight and narrow.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series that began with Book One, Body Movers. The indominatable Carlotta Wren, Neiman Marcus sales clerk by day and crime solver by sheer determination has been a great character to follow through the series. One can only hope that the publishers of this series will give us at least a couple more books in which to gracefully wrap up this great series. Although, I could handle a lot more than that!

Lucky Me, July 4, 2009
I was lucky enough to find this series with the first six books already written. I flew through them in a week. Unfortunately, I imagine I have quite the wait until the next one.
One thing I really like about this series is that the events of the books all take place over maybe a month or two. I hate series where months have passed between books, but you don't know what has occurred during those months. In the BodyMovers series, they pick up exactly where the action stopped in the last book, so you feel like you don't miss a minute.
I might be getting a little tired of all the love drama. I enjoy a triangle as much as the next person, but I do have some issues with this one. Carlotta needs to be a bit more honest with herself, and not lead all these men on. I think after the ending of Book 6 we will see some sort of progress (one way or another) between her and Jack.
Enjoyable book. Keep them coming.
