4.0 out of 5 stars 6 Killer Bodies by Stephanie Bond
Well, I've enjoyed the entire 'Body Movers' series from Stephanie Bond, but I must say I'm a little peeved. Everything I had read intimated that "Killer Bodies" would be the last book of the series. Apparently not! It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, I did, very much...but I was expecting ALL the issues to be resolved. Silly me.

Carlotta feels a bit...

I definitely love the series and think this book wraps some things up but it is just another version of books 1-5. The nosy heroine intervenes in police investigations and ends up basically solving more than one major crime for the city. Again, love the author and the characters but I am getting bored with it and would like to see the series wrapped up. I actually thought...

4.0 out of 5 stars 6 Killer Bodies by Stephanie Bond, June 1, 2009

Well, I've enjoyed the entire 'Body Movers' series from Stephanie Bond, but I must say I'm a little peeved. Everything I had read intimated that "Killer Bodies" would be the last book of the series. Apparently not! It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, I did, very much...but I was expecting ALL the issues to be resolved. Silly me.

Carlotta feels a bit like Chicken Little. Now that the cops have arrested her 'friend' Cooper, everyone seems to be convinced he's the 'Charmed Killer'...everyone but Carlotta. No matter how much evidence seems to be piling up, she just can't shake her belief in Cooper. And that's not Carlotta's only problem. The escaped, insane, former co-worker who tried to kill her is still on the loose and, as far as Carlotta is concerned, HE's a great suspect for the 'charmed' killings. And her former fiance Peter, who dumped her when her father and her family's wealth disappeared, is pressing her to deepen their relationship. And then there's her brother Wes, 19 years old. He's more of a child to Carlotta since she's the one who raised him for the last ten years...he's in BIG trouble--woman trouble, drug trouble, and mob trouble. Poor Carlotta would really like it if she only had to handle one problem at a time!

If you haven't read the previous five books, for goodness sakes don't start here. This series is filled with mystery, romance, and humor. Carlotta has three, count 'em three, men on a string and STILL can't decide which is right for her. She doesn't walk, but RUNS, where angels fear to tread in her efforts to clear her friends and find the killer and there are more red herrings than on a Maine fishing boat! I think I suspected just about everybody in the darn book, before the real killer was revealed.

"6 Killer Bodies" does have closure...of a sort. The 'Charmed Killer' mystery is solved. The mystery of Carlotta's father is not, but he does make another appearance. Wesley's issues become better...and more convoluted at the same time. And Carlotta's men...are still her men since there's just something special about each one. If only she could make a composite!

I did enjoy this book. Stephanie Bond knows how to mix humor, mystery, and romance and come up with intriguing stories and great plotting. But there's no way this is the last we've heard about Carlotta. So now I'm off to do more research on when I can expect the next installment in her crazy, mixed-up life.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 Killer Bodies Keeps a Great Series Going, June 7, 2009

If you are new to Stephanie Bond and the Body Movers series, then back up to Book One and start there! The trilogy within the series began in Book 4, 4 Bodies and a Funeral, amped up the action in 5 Bodies to Die For, and wraps up in 6 Killer Bodies.

But the action for Carlotta Wren isn't what wrapped up here, just the mystery of the Charmed Killer, so named for the charm bracelet pieces he leaves in the mouth of his victims. Bond leaves us wondering who Carlotta will ultimately choose as a love interest, what will happen with her fugitive parents, and if Carlotta's errant brother Wesley will stay on the straight and narrow.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series that began with Book One, Body Movers. The indominatable Carlotta Wren, Neiman Marcus sales clerk by day and crime solver by sheer determination has been a great character to follow through the series. One can only hope that the publishers of this series will give us at least a couple more books in which to gracefully wrap up this great series. Although, I could handle a lot more than that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucky Me, July 4, 2009
I was lucky enough to find this series with the first six books already written. I flew through them in a week. Unfortunately, I imagine I have quite the wait until the next one.
One thing I really like about this series is that the events of the books all take place over maybe a month or two. I hate series where months have passed between books, but you don't know what has occurred during those months. In the BodyMovers series, they pick up exactly where the action stopped in the last book, so you feel like you don't miss a minute.
I might be getting a little tired of all the love drama. I enjoy a triangle as much as the next person, but I do have some issues with this one. Carlotta needs to be a bit more honest with herself, and not lead all these men on. I think after the ending of Book 6 we will see some sort of progress (one way or another) between her and Jack.
Enjoyable book. Keep them coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific entry, June 6, 2009
In Atlanta the police arrest body mover Cooper Craft accusing him of being The Charmed Killer. As women feel safer going outside, his friend Carlotta Wren thinks the cops made a big error as she feels her former working peer Michael Lane is the serial killer.

Police detective Jack Terry agrees with Carlotta's assessment that the wrong man is in custody, but has doubts about Lane being the killer. Carlotta investigates, which enables her to ignore the other two men in her life, her brother Wesley who seems to land in one dire strait after another and her former fiancé, Peter Ashford, who wants a second chance though he dumped her when she was down and seemingly out for the count. Cooper is out on bail but required to wear a GPS ankle bracelet. He removes the tracking device and vanishes, which enforces the opinion he is the Charmed Killer.

The full focus on the sixth Body Movers' thriller is The Charmed Killer, which will keep readers focused on the story line; as the sidebar distractions of 4 and 5 are avoided. Instead, Stephanie Bond provides her fans with a terrific entry as increasingly with every discovery Carlotta makes, Cooper is guilty; his fleeing the coop just adds to the overwhelming proof. 6 KILLER BODIES is a strong entry in the Body Movers' saga.

Again, love the author and the characters but I am getting bored with it and would like to see the series wrapped up. I actually thought this book was meant to do so. As far as a positive, there are some pretty good twists that I didn't expect but for the most part, the series is repetitious and not romantic or sexy as it is marketed to be. I would definitely recommend it for the fans of Body Movers and for the twists but newbies would be more satisfied if they read a few of the previous books prior to this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love this series!, September 9, 2011
This adventures of Carlotta Wren, Neiman Marcus sales clerk by day and sleuth by ... um most of the time continue. Love interest number 3, former alcoholic doctor, Cooper is suspected of being the "Charmed Killer". Love interest number 2, wealthy snob Peter wants more, and Love interest number 1, Jack - well, he will take what he can get when he is not investigating the whereabouts of her fugitive father. Carlotta's misfit brother, Wesley has troubles that escalate when he has serious much older woman troubles and loan sharks keep tracking him down.

Eventually the 'Charmed Killer' mystery is solved with a shock. Although the mystery of Carlotta's father is not solved in this book a second shock awaits the reader. (Especially if you followed the series)

Bond left me wondering who Carlotta will choose as a love interest (go Jack!), what will happen with her fugitive parents, and if Carlotta's misfit of a brother Wesley will ever jump on a straight and narrow path. A novel that can be funny and totally serious at the same time in a completely believable manner is rare.

Lots of fun, mystery, drama, suspense, mystery and romance! (R Rated)

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep them Coming, June 15, 2009

Oh My.... what an ending! Just love this series. I recommend it to anyone who likes to read. I love the quirky humor, the heartbreaking human feelings and emotions. The author puts so much into this series. The portrayal of Wesley is just fabulous. The love triangle/ quad is fun and keeps the reader guessing. We see an insight into Hannah, little by little we learn where she comes from. I actually believe the author does us a favor by having Hannah as she is, the readers accepting her, then showing us her background. It just makes me like her more.

Poor Peter- the romantic, never upset Peter.... the guy just never seems to show emotions except for accepting. Some say this book made them like him more, other said the opposite.

The ending leaves you hanging & screaming for more. Seven can't come fast enough for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this series!, June 20, 2009
The Body Movers series is one of my favorites. There is mystery, romance and comedy in every book. It's up there with Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series. The many characters are colorful, complex, and crack me up... everything you want in a good book. I love every one of the Body Mover books. I've read all 6 and I'm now impatiently awaiting #7. I'm an avid reader and have read many mysteries, romances and chicklits - trust me, Stepanie Bond has hit a home run with this series. I love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Coming soon...7 Killer Bodies?, August 7, 2011

This book thoroughly summarizes and connects the past five murder/ mystery/ romance based Bond novels. What a thrill they were to read and to be captured by these hilariously, entertaining books!

Ms. Bond has create wonderfully profund characters that you either love or despise and her story lines are so intricately woven. You are left guessing 'Who did it?' as you read from the first line to the last line of the last chapter of the book. This story, 6 Killer Bodies, shows how clever a writer Stephanie is. Dr. Abrams was definitely not on my top ten list of The Charmed Killer suspects. While Mouse would not normally get my sympathy vote, I am left hoping that APD does not arrest him for the murder of the headless corpse or that Wesley not implicate him in that crime.

On the other hand, Carlotta and Peter's lovers' tryst seems outlandishly humorous at times. It seems to be thwarted at all angles by a karmic cloud that prevents the romance moving forward. These unforseen events that occur as they try to rekindle their love, leave me believing that in the end Carlotta will be the future Mrs. Jack Terry.

I am anxious as a jitter bug as I await book 7. Kudos again Ms. Bond! Please keep writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and fun!, June 18, 2011

Style Shopper (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews
If you haven't read this series, you should. She makes it fun and has you reading more and more, often putting off chores, etc., to read "just one more chapter". All the players are well-developed, and you will certainly have your favorites and not-so-favorites, just as in life!!

There are lots of bumps and turns in this mystery, with splashes of romance and humor. I suggest starting with the first in the series, "Body Movers" and read in order, however, you won't feel lost if you pick up one of the books in the middle of the series.

(My wish: Carlotta would crack down on Wesley!)

Happy reading!
