2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good cable...
This cable hardly has any improvement over the Sony cable that comes with the PSX and the PS2. If not demagnatized it creates crazy interferance and sends things that look like vertical damper wires all over the screen. You're much better off with a Sony S-Video cable, a Monster Gamelink S-Video cable, or Interact's higher quality cable. I personally suggest Interacts...

This review is from: 6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black) (Video Game)
well, i did compare the difference today, leaving the movie running, and switch back and forth multiply times with the cables the ps2 is already packed with (a/v) and this one. You can easily see a noticeably difference. not a super drastic change, but it does improve the picture. so if u have the option for the s video cable, you might as well use it. you have it for a reason, and for improving the picture at all for 9.99 hell i say go for it. i notice an improvement with most of the action movies i own. predator, terminater 2, saving private ryan, starship troopers, platoon, although already look great, now look even better. i also noticed a smoother image on all of my ps2 games too. im not getting anything making this review, im just being honost.

BOTTOM LINE: if you have the ability to get an s-video cable than try it out. if u decide to get a s-video cable, get this one, the price is right and the picture is good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Technology..., June 5, 2002

This review is from: 6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black) (Video Game)
Just about any S-Video cable is good, no matter who makes it. Their basically all about the same. Now for you people that dont know what you're talking about... Composite..yes the yellow RCA connector. Composite means that all of the colors are *combined* which leads to color bleed..the center connector is color, the outer connector is sync, an S-Video cable has a four pin connector... The pins are 1)Red 2)Green 3)Blue 4)Sync... Now because the colors are transmitted on separate pins... you dont get the color bleed. Thus the term SUPER-VIDEO(S-Video). And just because the cable is Nitrogen filled doesnt make it much better. When the gas becomes electronically charged it forms a barrier to cut down on line loss.... thanks for reading this...later.

The standard composite cables are fine, but if you have S-Video input(s) on your TV the S-Video Cable is the way to go! The images are much more crisp and clear. With the graphics of the games for the PS2 you cannot go wrong with a S-Video connection. And the cost is so inexpensive buying one is definately worth the price!

I personally suggest Interacts better one because it offers better quality at a lower cost than Monsters. The cables themselves are thin and badly shielded, thus the audio performance is also sub par. The only advantage is the ability to un-join the cables, so you can send the audio to your stereo, and the video to your TV. But you can do that with Interacts better cable, you can't with monster's.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING!!, November 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: 6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black) (Video Game)
Using this item for your PS 2 will nulify your warranty as it is not manufactured by Sony. Unfortunately, Sony neglects to warn us consumers of this stipulation. I was unable to find a Sony S-video cable so I bought this one. After talking to a Sony tech. I was informed that this inferior PS 2 S-video cable has reconfigured the PS 2 output port (how?) and thus has broken the DVD playback function of my PS 2. In order to have my PS 2 fixed, I now have to send it in for testing, ect, ect and will be charged for it. I am outraged at Sony and at this 3rd market S-video cable producer and am warning you not to make the same mistake. According to Sony, they are having massive problems with all non-Sony manufactured products for the PS 2, such as DVD remotes, cables, ect. but still are neglecting to warn the consumers. Although the Sony products are 3 times as expensive and the third market manufacturer's products, I would recommend that you spend the extra money for it and keep your 90 day Sony warranty intact.

Many of you are leaving out something. You cannot tell people to get this item and thats all. First of all the item is yes great and improves the picture quality a great deal. However you must have the TV to do it. So dont plan on getting this unless you have a place to plug it in. The slot is a circle with dots (kind of like your mouse port).

I hooked one up to my PS2 a few days ago and I am very happy with the result. DVD's look much, much sharper and PS2 games look somewhat better. For only a few dollars its a great way to improve the quality of your system.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hysteria, January 18, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black) (Video Game)
I just received these cables and have compared them to the original AV cables that come with the PS2 system.

First let me note that almost any manufacturer will include a disclaimer voiding the waranty of their product if you use anything other than their products. This holds true for the PS2 as well - truth - they reserve the right not to uphold the warranty on the PS2 if you use these cables (as to whether they will actually risk the PR problems from doing so or if Interact would have to reimburse you for your loss is another story).

Now for the review - the cables did provide a noticable increase in the quality of the image on screen. the change is not earth-shattering, but it does create a better picture. The cables are shielded just as well as the Sony cables included with the PS2, and they are demagnatized at the same point and to the same extent as the Sony cables. I cannot compare these Interact cables with the Sony S-video cables because I have not chosen to spend that much just for a review, but they compare head-to-head with the quality manufacturing of the Sony A/V cables.

I hope that this helps to quell some of the hysteria I have noted in these reviews. Your PS2 was difficult to come by, and you should try to protect it from dangerous products. I don't think that this Interact cable is one of those hazards.

2.0 out of 5 stars Interact- The Black Sheep of Peripherals, December 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: 6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black) (Video Game)
The goal of the electronics purchaser has always been to obtain the highest quality at the cheapest price- the most "bang" for the buck. Alas, Interact's peripherals are generally not the case!

Interact's policy has always been to ship out its goods at markedly lower prices than its competitors; so low, in fact, that it's hard for the casual buyer to pass up! Unfortunately, their products are also of a markedly lower quality as well. Although I can't speak for their S-video cable in particular, the two Interact game controllers I have owned have been inaccurate, jittery, and downright disappointing, even at the low price. Interact in general suffers from a poor reputation among gamers.

That an S-video cable is necessary is not in question; there is no better way to improve the brightness and overall picture quality of your image output. However, give yourself some well-deserved peace of mind by buying from more reputable manufacturers like Mad Catz or, on the high end, Monster Cable. They're easily much better values.

IF you don't know the difference between S-VIDEO and composite video, then believe me S-VIDEO delivers superb pictures over the other. If you want to watch DVD's or truely enjoy the power of the PS2, then you need this accessory!
