This cable seperates the video's color and brightness signal instead of cramming the entire video signal into one RCA cable. If your TV or diplay of choice has the S-VHS input plug, I suggest you pick this A/V cable up. To help you understand the difference this makes, play a VHS movie on your tv, then play a DVD. The image you get from your PS2 using S-Video Cable is comparable to DVD vs. Video. I won't play with out it!

When I received my S-Video Cable I was a bit unconvinced that something so inexpensive could significantly change what I thought was crisp and clear, into something better. After switching cables, I turned from skeptic to believer. DVD's were clean and games were focused significantly. I recommend the S-Video Cable to a person who has a S-Video port available (So find out before purchasing), and a few extra dollars. It is worth it! Trust me!

I bought a PS2 last week and paid for the InterAct S-Video Cable. Let it be known that the cable ruined my PS2's ability to play back DVDs. Do not buy anything for you PS2 that is not made by Sony. I talked to a Sony representative today and they said using any other cable will VOID the warranty on the PS2. Luckily I was able to return my Playstation 2 to the store that I bought it from...you might not be so lucky.

S-Video gives performance way beyond the poor performance of the composate video. I gave this cable 4 instead of 5 only because I know that Component Video is better and this is not the best in the market. If your TV doesn't support Component Video, then this the right choice.

For this reviewer, that's the real issue here-will this S-Video cord (which comes with the RCA cables- including the yellow video one) work on my PS2? It does, & the S-Video produces video/images of higher quality than the standard yellow socket. You'll see it yourself when you plug this into your TV (S-Video sockets are standard in every TV set produced today as part of the video input) & put in a PS2 (or One) game or DVD. Also, despite the low cost, the cords don't look or feel cheaply produced & has good length-6 feet to be exact.

For those still using a PS2, this duo RCA/S-Video cable is a great find.

Some games (puzzle quest) use an absurdly small font for text and have little bitty status icons that are blurry and all look the same. Games like that are barely playable using the standard ps2 video cable. With this S-Video cable the text and icons are clear and sharp. It's not a minor difference - it's HUGE. The overall picture is better as well but the difference isn't such a big deal.

6' S-Video Cable for PlayStation 2 (Black)
FIRSTLY, YOU MUST SEE IF THE TV HAS 3 JACKS AREA [ONE ROUND S-VIDEO AND TWO ROUND FEMALE SOUND JACKS]NEXT TO EACH OTHER. IF THE TV DOES, THEN THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO HAVE S-VIDEO IMAGES WITH YOUR TV DIRECT SOUND SPEAKERS.
USUALLY TVS WITH THIS JACK HAVE GOOD STEREO AND SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS.
MAKES ALL THE GAMES INCREDIBLE!

The cable isn't the same as the one shown in the picture. There's four plugs: composite video, audio, the red one, and the S-video. The picture only shows the last three. If you've done your research on these sorts of cables, you know that the presence of a composite video plug (yellow) is NOT a sign of a quality S-video cable. Very misleading picture.

The thing with S-video cables that aren't made by the manufacturer of the thing it's supposed to work with (Sony, PS2) is that you never know what the quality will be like. The specific cable you've gotten might work as it's supposed to, but the one I got caused a very ugly checkerboard effect when displaying color (which is practically all the time in a PS2 game). That sort of effect is a cable problem, not a hardware one.

If you're looking for an S-video cable for your PS2 or PS1, buy one manufactured by Sony for the PS3. They work with all three consoles. Stay away from off-brand cables like this one.

I agree with the reviewers that advocate purchasing an S-video cable but warn about the quality of this particular product. I attached one to my PS2 and it worked for about a week before the picture became a grainy black-and-white. Luckily the unit was not ruined. Save a headache and but a better quality cable.

Once you plug this in, be sure to check the settings on your PS2 to ensure it's using the correct display mode.

My test game for this cable had been Dragon Quest VIII, which is a very colorful game, that also makes use of cel-shaded graphics and such. These cables definitely helped sharpen up the image and color quality. The text of the game and the menus, in particular, looked MUCH better. The only downside to the sharper image was some of the 3D effects of the game looked a little "grainy", but lowering the sharpness of your TV should help with that. Even if you lower the TV's sharpness, though, the overall improvement to image quality with these cables compared to the standard cables is phenomenal, especially on HDTV sets.
