This 4 pack in PRECUT sandpaper is a great boon to the Performax 16-32 drum sander. The sandpaper easily locks in place at the right angle and perfectly rolls up on the drum sander to create the perfect sanding operation. Changing sandpaper grades is quick and simple with the precut sheets. The 100 grit is perfect for a medium finish with about a 1/64" stock removal per pass.

The precut paper is easy to work with, and quick changes when going from rough cut to final finish. With proper care and alignment, the paper last for several thousand board feet of sanding. If the paper becomes overlapped on the drum, it will create burn marks on the wood and weaken the paper on the overlapped edge, also reducing the productive life of the paper.

I'll spend the few bucks more and let Performax cut the sandpaper to the exact angles needed for perfect drum fit.

I use this genuine Jet Performax product for medium to high rough stock removal. It handles both smoothing rough sawn stock as well as dimensionalizing planned stock. In the past I have tried to use 120 and 150 grit for the initial passes but wound up with burn marks and streaks on the 4/4 cherry stock despite depth and speed adjustments. I now use the 100 grit for the initial passes and then switch to the 150 grit for the final passes on the cherry stock. The 100 grit JET 60-6100 100-Grit Ready-to-Wrap Abrasive Sandpaper also works great on 4/4 popular and soft maple as well. Having already cut sections for mounting in my Performax 16-32 drum sander saves time and insures the right fit vs cutting from continuous rolls.
