We really like the descriptions, and extensive information provided about each hike, from difficulty to traffic to elevation gain, amount of shade, whether dogs are allowed, whether there is water available on the trail, etc. Some of the hikes are really well known (Meyers Ranch, Mount Falcon), whereas others were a wonderful surprise (Wigwam Trail). Definitely helpful for someone new to the area!

This book is great for those of us who are just starting to venture into the wilderness. The book is very detailed, not only about hiking in general, but each hike has been thoroughly researched. My favorite pages are the ones that break each hike into categories (i.e. Hikes best for kids, 1 - 3 mile hikes, etc.) - which helped us find just the right hike! We found it to be so helpful to know what to bring and what to expect for each hike, therefore making our experience that much more enjoyable!
