5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than I expected! March 29, 2010
Format:Paperback
I orginally bought this book for one pattern and one pattern only, the Child's Octopus Mittens. After having the chance to look though the entire book, I am offically impressed. All of the patterns are at least somewhat interesting, and many of them are downright gorgeous. I have at least fifteen of them on my to-do list. One of the greatest things about this book is the fact that all of the patterns use Cascade 220, a great yarn in it's own right but also one that is easily substituted for almost any other good worsted weight you have on hand. Most of these projects also only take one or two skeins, so this book would be great for stash busting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knitting has never been so good! April 11, 2010
Format:Paperback
This is the best pattern book ever. I've got many, many knitting and crochet books. I try to only buy a book if there are at least 3 projects in it that I would want to do. But this book has surpassed all my other books. 60 projects are in here and I really want to knit at least 40 of them. Maybe ALL of them. I've had it only two weeks now and I've just finished my 2nd scarf. Casting on for another today and maybe a pair of mittens tomorrow. So far the patterns have been very easy but interesting as well. In fact, I'm making most of my Christmas gifts this year from this book. This is one book I'll never regret buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Lose With This Book! June 2, 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
What knitter doesn't WANT/NEED a stashbuster? First and foremost, that's exactly what this book is. Not every book can receive such an honor. A knitting book can only be regarded as a Stashbuster if it contains patterns, designs, that one actually desires and is planning to knit. There isn't a pattern in this book that I don't want to NOT knit and that goes right down to the Puppy Mittens. The patterns are attractive, functional and doable. I look at them and think "I can knit that" instead of "that is so cool, too bad I can't knit it." I'm also thinking about all the effortless gifts I can make without wracking my brain for ideas.

The title 60 Quick Knits would normally, turn me away. When I think of a quick knit, I'm thinking of something thick and bulky and I'm not into that. Thank Goodness Cascade 220 is also mentioned in the title. While Cascade is a great workhorse worsted weight yarn, the key to all these great knits is worsted weight yarn. You can use worsted weight and knock out all of these designs, reduce your stash and buy more yarn. The photographs are crisp, clear, concise; easy through experienced, written out and charted (if need be). Paperback helps make it a value, but since it is such a keeper and a book I'll use repeatedly, I would have loved a hardcover edition. In any case, there is nothing NOT to like about this treasure! Do you need this book in your knitting library? You certainly do.

I like all these "60" books for knitters. Sometimes you want something not-too-huge to pass an afternoon. Lots of choies here.

Eyelet Scarf in the book .... question
By knitting a k2tog and a YO in the same row you will have the same amount of stitches at the end of the row as when you started the row. Example: start out with 20 stitches - add YO - you now have 21 stitches, then k2tog = which will take away 1 stitch from the 21 and now you have 20 stiches... Read more
