Why the bloody hell do they want 60 for this? All it is; is Saints Row 3 all over again. It's totally identical to the third. Minus the Random Aliens and weapons etc...But its the same game. Simple as that. People are willing to pay 60 AGAIN for the third game. Which is 2 years old
First off, I question the smug certainty with which you make this assertion, as quite obviously you haven't played the game. Secondly, simply because they're using the same game engine and similar mechanics doesn't mean it's going to be the same game. (You may as well say the Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy was all one game).
He is speaking of the canceled DLC for SR3 called, 'Enter the Dominatrix'. It was basically converted into the plot of SR4. Although, I am sure he exaggerates about how it is just DLC released as a game, that IS how it started out. I am confident enough that they added enough content to make it more like a stand alone game and less like a simple run-off from SR3.
After watching the preview video of this game on the SR website. I promptly canceled my preorder. This game is not worth the price. I loved SR3 but this just looks completely stupid and not very creative. I will still get it at some point but nor for 60. I'll wait and get it for 20 by the end of the year.
Nothing about it looks "completely stupid." It's a sequel to Saints Row: The Third -- which, by the way, was an amazing game -- so it has everything that made that game enjoyable, but now you have powers a la Crackdown, Infamous and Prototype.
"Not very creative"
Tell me another open world sandbox game where you play as the President and fight an intergalactic alien enemy.
In addition, which other open world game has the comedy and overall funniness that Saints Row has? None. Saints Row is the only one.
I can't help but laugh at some of the baseless accusations and assumptions on here about Saints Row IV. I don't know why people try to convince themselves that something is a disappointment or not worth buying on some fallacies they've built up in their own head.
I have to agree with M.Johnston post. When I read that the SR gang lord becomes President of the US (WTF?) and is then kidnapped by aliens and thrown in a virtual Steelport (yeah...) my anticipation for this installment of SR went down.
I loved SR2 AND 3 (humor and more cartoon like images/violence included) but the whole plot for this one is just out of character and way over the top. It's almost as if the developers are pitching ideas back and forth to see how outrageous/unbelievable they can make this game before gamers just stop buying into it.
By the time I finished SR3 I was just wanting it to end because the plot/dialogue was really getting annoying. "Oh the saints are heroes! They saved a landmark even though they've killed hundreds of people and are responsible for countless drug and prostitution rings!!" Really?
Sandbox game play with the GTA elements is good. But it is what it is. You're evil/corrupt and it's a guilty pleasure. So why try to turn these characters into something they are not and call them "anti-heroes?"
On a side note, some of the "comedy and overall funniness" is a bit run into the ground too. How many times do I have to see a black box over some guy's schlong? In SR3 you could wield a big old purple "violator" but showing a chicks tits is offensive. Lame.
I'll hold off on buying this until the price drops by $20-$30.
I arrived at this price based on several reasons. First off I watched the trailer that was released around the 4th of July. I cancelled my preorder based on that trailer. I felt I did not like the direction they are taking the game. Also from what I saw I felt the game is not evolving, It looks like more of the same.witch is ok, just not 60$ ok for me. So at this point its not a buy right away game for me. I do want this game just for fun. I am going to sit back and wait for some reviews before I run out and buy it. If the reviews are good I will get it right away. Who knows I could look stupid and this could be the best game of the summer. We all have bought a game and said wow I just got screwed out of 60.00. I just hope this is not going to be that game. Look me up on ps3 my name is mrslimee I have played lots of games, so its just a gut feeling about SR4. I really want this game to be great.
So to recap: the president of the Saints Row becomes the President of the US?! Dumb on the surface, because unbelievable, but dumb on the creative level as well, because we like to play as part of a street gang, not as the Man. And you will walk through tanks and kill people with your mind? What is this, SR or the XMen? I've said it before: the more unrealistic the action is, the less fun it is, period. Might as well play a cartoon. I'd cancel my pre-order as others have, and wait for it to drop in price (probably happen by November) but because SR2 was so well done, I'll hold off.
But seriously, 60 extra bucks for an add-on I'll probably get close to free in a couple months?! Not likely, fellows.
