This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
There are more expensive and more well known continuous ink systems available, but this one has all that is essential and good about them for less. My Epson 1400 is unstoppable now (especially after adding a waste ink kit) and will save me crazy bucks while delivering top notch prints. It is laughable to think how much I would have spent otherwise.
If you own or are considering the 1400 as a wide format studio printer, you owe it to yourself to save money and buck the system with this CIS. Just make sure you have decent ink refills from a reputable supplier (like Image Specialists) so that you can have Claria ink quality maintained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Purchase Ever, November 20, 2010

This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
I bought this printer because it was widely reviewed and loved by so many. Then the initial ink ran out, and the sticker shock of the ink was to much to bare so we put the printer into mothballs. Then I had a need to use it again and went online to amazon to see if I could get the cartridges cheaper and stumbled on CISS Systems. I reviewed and investigated them for about a week. I picked this one on style and price. There were more expensive ones on the market but I figured I would try this one first then move to a nicer unit. I received the unit a mere 4 days after ordering. I was worried that the directions would suck because that seemed to be a common issue with other systems. Once I got it I immediately opened it to find a paper with a website. The website led me to the instructional video. It was amazing, and it was my specific model not some other unit, within 5 minutes it was installed and the printer was charging the cartridges.

Thanks HotZone360, your awesome

5.0 out of 5 stars plenty of ink!, April 16, 2011

This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
I just installed this system and I am very pleased. First of all, it was delivered promptly and well packaged. Secondly, it came with a link to video installation instructions, contact info, and a 10% coupon code for future hotzone purchases. The ink to my epson 1400 ran out some time ago, and I was really loathing buying new cartridges, but I found this product on amazon and went for it. I have never installed a CIS system before, and I was a little nervous about what it might do to my printer, but it was really pretty easy. The only issue I had was getting the cartridges to snap in place properly, so that the printer could read them, but after watching the video a couple of times, I got them in there properly. Not too hard, you just have to make sure all the plastic tabs snap forward. And it really does come with loads of ink. I do a lot of process prints for design and illustration, so having something like this is a huge help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For The Price, August 9, 2011

This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
This CIS is a great for the price.

Installation is easy but there is one minor problem that should be rectified: The ink tube support bar that is installed over the head travel area is supplied with double sided tape. This tape will last for about two weeks before it gives up and the bar falls into the printer, thus jamming the print head.

I fixed this problem by using two #6 x 3/8" sheet metal screws with a washer on each screw. I drilled one hole on each end of the top of the "T" and then used those two holes as pilots to drill two holes into the printer case. You do not really need the washers but they add the extra thickness to keep the tips of the screws from protruding too far into the printer, even though there is more than enough room/height to not interfere with anything. The sheet metal screws hold the support bar and will not let it fall off.

I also then added a waste ink kit (purchased from OctoInkJet) to make this a long term printer.

The print quality from the supplied ink is pretty good. I print a lot of panoramic scenery photos and the colors are more than acceptable to me. Since I just started using this ink I will have to reserve my judgement on how long the prints will last before fading. I will be buying Claria compatible ink made by Image Specialists when I run out of the ink supplied with this CIS. I do not know if this will improve the quality but it will probably extend the life of the photos I print.

4.0 out of 5 stars Be advised, February 1, 2012

This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
I received the product today, and not only does it look nothing like the CIS system in the picture, but it doesn't include any websites or contacts in the package like others stated. All it had was some cheesy instructions that looks like someone threw together on their old inkjet printer. The big problem I am having, no matter what I do the printer will not recognize the cartridges. Their troubleshooting section is about worthless. I am trying to contact seller going through Amazon, since they provide no contact info directly. Hopefully they will respond quickly and help me fix the problem. I have a brand new Epson photo 1400, so I don't know if there are issues with the new models and CIS or what. If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated.

This link is what the CIS system actually looks like, although this is a different seller. Just FYI
CIS Ink System for Epson 79 Ink: Stylus Photo 1400 Printer

I will update with any changes. In the mean time buyer beware

Update:
After working with their customer service (who has been more than helpful), they determined that this CIS is no longer compatable with the newer Epson Photo 1400's. Epson changed something in the newer manufactured ones that doesn't recognize the CIS. They did issue me a refund, however now I'm trying to see if there are any CIS systems that may be compatable. So if you have recently bought this printer, you may want to do some research first. So far I have no answers. And no, I don't know the cut off date for compatability either. Hopefully they will be updating something in the description of the product clarifying.

Out of respect to the company and the many happy users of the product, I changed my rating to a 4 star, mainly based on their service and others' reviews on their older printers.

I've printed quite a bit already and it hasn't failed me yet. The quality still comes out great so long as I don't use cheap paper as well. Normally I'd already have to of replaced my cartridges (over 100 bucks each time...) at least twice but the inks still going. I haven't even opened my re-fill inks yet.

I can't say anything the other reviewers haven't already said. If you've got an Epson 1400 collecting dust because you can't justify paying the price of a new printer for a set of ink cartridges. BUY THIS CISS. It took longer to watch the install video than it did to install the system. I was certainly skeptical at this price, but I trusted the reviews and I'm not disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good!, November 7, 2011
This review is from: 600ml Uv DYE INK CIS Ciss System for Epson Photo 1400 Printer (Office Product)
Received the product quickly and with excellent packaging. The product seems to be solidly built...the reservoir and the cartridge. The t-bar, which holds the tubular ribbon didn't stick so I used some other tape. It may take drilling little holes into the plastic to keep it on the printer...hopefully not. In removing the lid for the cartridge insertion I broke the plastic hinge, but you really don't need the lid...unless for a return, then I hope that doesn't void the warranty. The videos offered are great except...the person talking has a heavy accent and it is not always easy to understand what he says, but basically you can figure it out by watching the YouTube video a few times. The only thing that I didn't like was his using a "trick" hand maneuver to slide the cartridge under the printer top piece. I wrote to him and he said to unplug the printer after hitting the button and then move the cartridge assembly to the left by hand...it worked. He should have shown that in the video instead of his "trick." He probably would help himself by hiring someone else to do the videos that speaks better English, thus giving more assurance of the product. After following the video I found that the tubular ribbon in the video showed the ink throughout the ribbon, but with my ribbon you could see a lot of air bubbles. I wrote to him a few days ago but haven't heard back. He has another video on priming the cartridge which I did without removing the cartridge as he shows in the video. I just removed the rubber air holes and inserted the syringe that comes with the kit and sucked the ink into the ribbon up to the cartridge. You should only have to do this once per color (6), as once primed it should continue indefinitely if you don't let the reservoir run out of ink. I'm not sure if the cartridges were already filled or not, but anyway I turned on the printer, installed the software, installed the not supplied USB cable and viola! perfect page printed...easy! So far so good, and the printed page looks great. Now on to the CD-ROM printing and checking to see how the ink is flowing in the tubular ribbons. If the product keeps working as it has so far, and the CD-ROM printing works as good as my Epson 380 I'll be very happy. It is obvious that you can save a lot with this system as the six refill bottles cost less than $20.00. I don't do photos, so I am sorry I can't review that feature. I mainly purchased the Epson 1400 for the CD-ROM printing. I paid $220.00 for the 1400 straight from Epson with the $80.00 rebate. The system cost $40.00 and the second supply of ink bottles $20.00. Goodbye new cartridges!

This system is very great and works well. Have only had a couple of snags on the ink feed line but that could have been operator error by my roommate!
