Great resource!,

This review is from: 601 Spanish Verbs (601 Verbs) (English and Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
excellent resource for people who are learning Spanish. Has descriptions of when to use each verb tense along with a translation. The book provides each of the 601 verbs in each of these forms to make sure that the language learner uses them correctly (in writing and speaking). As a Spanish teacher, i think that it is a straightfoward book that provides instant help for someone trying to improve their spanish skills.

Great for Beginners (More Advanced Speakers, look elsewhere),
This review is from: 601 Spanish Verbs (601 Verbs) (English and Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
Now, don't be gettin' all hot and bothered about my title of this review. When I first bought this book, I was a junior in high school. HANDS-DOWN it was invaluable for me during that time. I decided I would minor in Spanish in college, and in my first year of intermediate Spanish, it worked well. As we began working with more complex verb tenses and usages (that subjunctive always gets ya, am I right?), this book was still working out well for me.Well, as I've now progressed to the most advanced intermediate Spanish course I can take before moving on to the next level, this book has not been helpful. I almost always have to look up unfamiliar verbs in my other Spanish-English dictionaries. I still reference to this book because of the beginning portion. The first part of the book dedicates several pages to each verb tense, explaining the tense, giving examples of it, giving examples of when you would use it vs using this other tense ("In this case, use the imperfect subjunctive vs present perfect" as an example), etcetera. What a miracle that section is. It'll even give you great tips and acronyms and little memory tricks! The book also has some practice sections. Nowadays, I often find that beginning section a bit lacking... I guess it's just because as I progress into more complex situations and contexts, I require more complex and in-depth explanations. Point is, if you are a beginner to low-intermediate student, I highly recommend this book. Beyond that, you won't find anything you don't already know, and you'll very likely find yourself looking for more. If you're just a high schooler who's serious about Spanish or just need to get Spanish out of the for your 2 year, get this book. If you're beyond that, look elsewhere.

CD IS ONLY FOR IPOD,

As a verb conjugation reference, this book is fine. But, the potential buyer should know that the CD which comes with this book is only for IPOD. If you have windows or android or anything other than an IPOD, you should consider this as a book with no CD, then think about the price relative to other books which DO have a useful CD. I was disappointed, perplexed and angry at what I perceived to be a profoundly stupid management and marketing decision on the part of Berlitz. ...Not to mention PISSED that I spent this much on what is basically a dead-tree-only product :(

No English to Spanish Verb Index !!,
This review is from: 601 Spanish Verbs (601 Verbs) (English and Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
If you want to know what the Spanish verb is for "to mend" you have to look through 600 pages to find it. Why would a book targeting English speaking students not have an English to Spanish index. In the verb reference section there are no sentences and translations for each of the verbs. Waste of money. There are much better alternatives available.

20% more Spanish than my sister!!!!,
By Aaron Ximm "Curmudgeon" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 601 Spanish Verbs (601 Verbs) (English and Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
My sister and I are both trying to learn the main Spanish language and Hispanic words to speak with our parents "HELP" of various kinds and I was soooo jealous for a long long time about this book "501 Spanish Verbs." Well NO LONGER now I found the book for me and even though hers is some best seller SHE is the one that is jealous!. She knows at MOST 500 verbs which is enough I'm sure for simple instruction but the time is going to come I am sure that my extra ONE HUNDRED verbs are going to turn out to be the difference between LIVES LOST or at least a stain removed in a timely fashion or a child disciplined correctly! Seriously why would any educated person pay for a measly half thousand words to conjurate correctly when for only a few dollars more or NOT EVEN thanks to SECOND HAND THANK YOU AMAZON BOOKS dot COM you can have a whole extra hundred or more???? I would seriously give this SIX HUNDRED AND ONE stars if I could.

I bought this for my daughter and she says it ok. I would recommend this to others. It seems that this book is what all of her friends are using as well.

I have not received it. I ordered it a month ago. This is terrible service. I have filed a complaint through the complaint service and still no reponse. I am suprised that Amazon would ever allow a transaction to go as poorly as this one. I have ordered many products and never experienced anything like this!!!
