Just like the previous reviewer stated - "it is a canteen and is made out of plastic". This is the U.S. military standard issue plastic canteen with the only exception - the canteen cap is smooth; you do not recieve the military issue cap that has the adapter for usage with the military chemical protective masks. Colors of the canteens may be: Black, O.D. Green, or Tan. I have 2 from my military days and these canteens still come in handy for hiking, backpacking, camping, etc.

I was hoping for the heavy kind of canteens that I had in the Army. These have a little thinner plastic but that part is ok. I don't know how the caps will do when walking because the piece that holds the cap to the canteen is molded onto the cap and does not rotate. It may come unscrewed when walking.

It is what it is. Holds water, does not leak and the water taste fine.

I had several of these G.I. type canteens when I was young, and this canteen is virtually the same. I chose these above the aluminum canteens because of the reported leaking issues where the metal seams meet. These arrived in a timely manner, they do not smell badly, they do not leak, and they are durable.

Effective way to carry water, however there dose tend to be a stale plasticky taste to the water if it is in there for more than a day. Also not easy to clean. There are better products out there for relitively little more money.
