"I Will Slip Into The Sea",
By Nikolai (The Journey that will never reach its destination) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If 60's Were 90's (Audio CD)
"The Sea.....eventually" The words have echoed through my ears marking a moment in life when I discovered the most innovative musician of all time. Unlike most devout followers of Jimi I was not introduced to the legend by the infamous riffs of Purple Haze. Instead, I heard a different Hendrix as seen through the eyes of the Beautiful People. I was 8. I am a dedicated student of the stratocaster and have done all i can to work with Jimis Music, But nothing compares to the ingeneous work of the Beautiful People. This is one of the most amazing discs ever put together and is a must have for anyone into Jimi, Guitar, Techno, Sex, Drugs, or Rock N Roll. A must have at any party or a night alone with some hallucinogens. Unfortunatley it has come to my attention that the cd is out of print which is most unfortunate. So, any of you folks out there with cd burners make copies of this cd and spread it freely with love, it is an essential member in any collection. "Get your mind Together"

I am a dedicated rock and roller--since seeing The Beatles on Ed--but to be honest with you, I never was much into Jimi's ultra acid flecked jams--again, being a Beatle guy, I loved melody. What always seemed to grab my ear with Jimi, were his wonderful melodies--'Angel', 'Little Wing', 'Wind Cries Mary' etc.--though, Jimi is long gone (can you imagine him in an 'Unplugged' segment?!)this cd is a great way to get into the groove that is Hendrix--his melodies, his funk, his spirit. Dreamy, exotic and captivating--crank this up--perfect after a good surf session and a visit to Captain Hoppo.

Hey, it's something new (sort of),
This review is from: If 60's Were 90's (Audio CD)
My brother, a diehard Hendrix aficionado, suggested this one. At first listen, I found it quite disturbing. It seemed like sacrilege. "Clubatized" Jimi?! Please tell me it ain't so! But, after a couple of listens it grew on me. The mix is done respectfully. Some of the songs are definitely worth pressing the repeat button on the CD player for on the way to work. Buy a used one, you can't go wrong.

The Ultimate Mix of Jimmy and chill,

This album was brought to my attiontion way back in the 90's (whew), by a friend of mine who worked at a radio station before clear channel bought them up, and every other good radio station in the universe.I love this album beacuse it weaves Jimi so effortlesssly with really good beats and down tempo. The Sea Eventually is a classic remake of Jimi's Castles made of Sand and is the stand out track of this whole album. For late night use only!!

Uncle Jimmy would've been real proud,

I accidentally heard one of the tracks while flipping through the busy San Francisco radio dial. Being a big Hendrix fan, I marveled at how such an awesome piece of art had managed to escape me before. We're talking unmistakable Hendrix signature feel, masterfully interleaved with tasteful, beautifully done modern electronica. Fortunately, the DJ clarified the matter by mentioning it's by Beautiful People. Of course, the CD was already out of print. Bummer, because these guys deserve to make a lot of $$ for their hard work and talent. But due to poor business management, the CD has not been re-printed, depriving millions of potential fans of owning this landmark album. Napster to the rescue (this was early 2001). After several days of searching, I've burned a CD that has since been played hundreds of times. How can you tell a true classic? It still sounds just as fresh, and occupies the prestigious #1 slot in my CD changer. Dare I say that these guys, if they ever got back together, may be worthy of standing on the same pedestal as some of the greatest rockers and DJ's of our time?

Joining forces to find it,
By Joćo Valente (Portugal) - See all my reviews
This review is from: If 60's Were 90's (Audio CD)
Upon reading all reviews on this absolute masterpiece, I found out that, like me, most reviewers are starving for a copy. Therefore, we should join forces and share information in order to find it. Here's what I learned: the first edition on the album was in 1994 on Continuum Records with catalog number 19315. But on Argus Music Searcher I found out that a re-issue was (apparently) released in 1998 on Sony International under the number 42063. If someone out there know how to use this info thus learning how to get copies of it, please advice all of us. I still can't believe how an album like this goes out of print. It makes me think about all the great music that have been kept from avid listeners.

I bought this on cassette shortly after it was released. It was the bomb, I played it for all my friends. Later on I tried to find it on CD to no avail. This album rocks. I'm a huge Hendrix fan; what these DJ's have done though is rocking. I wholeheartedly recommend this album.

I have been looking for this CD/Album forever. Just before X-Mas '99 I find it at a local record shop! It wasn't in the 'pre-owned' bin either, but in it's original shrink-wrap? I buy it and listen... and listen... and listen. Owning it/Having it is worth giving up a lifetime of leisure (well almost). It is 'Rilly Groovy'. Other artists similar to BP? I think they are unique. I thank Amazon.Com for showing the album cover and keeping the listing open even without product!

First heard these tunes on sound track for "strapped-wake up call" A vid on tow-in surfing. Basically surfers strapped to their boards and towed into very large waves (35 foot plus) by their mates riding jet ski's. Jimi's and BP's tunes really married nicely with the visuals. Especially the sea sounds track. I've physically tried to obtain this CD in many overseas countries with no success. Anyone who can help me out with supply please email me at : pasgrant@q-net.net.au Can't believe no-one is re mastering this stuff, its brilliant. Hope to hear from some one. Check ya Vic
