4.0 out of 5 stars A rare look into the side of Police Work that we seldom see, February 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 625 8th Avenue (Paperback)
This book offers a rare glimpse in to the inside of police work, written by an author who has "Been there". Anthony "Tony" Zeoli, retired Lieutenant from the Port Authority Police Department, has penned this novel about a homicide victim found in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. The Bus terminal is a microcosm of life in the City with thousands of people coming and going every day. As the homicide investigation unfolds, we read a number of subplots that can only have been told by a cop who has seen the side of the city that most do not, the City of New York at it's best and worst. This novel is not a polished version of an an american classic, rather it is Zeoli's unique writing style making you feel that he is speaking directly to you, as you are seated next to him having a cup of coffee, instead of reading, it is that real. It is a quick read that rings of truth. I had borrowed this book to read from a friend as it has been out of print from some time, and finally succeeded in buying a copy for my own. I look forward to reading his next book, "The Night-Comer",The Night Comerfor another rare look into the world of law enforcement that we don't see on television. I hope that Lt. Zeoli has more books in the future.
