K&N Cold Air Charger,

I purchased the cold air intake due to the poorly designed OEM air intake system. I have noticed increased horsepower and smoother acceleration since I installed the product. I have also noticed an increase in MPG for both street and highway. I am getting about 1/2 mile more on average for street and more than a 1 mile more for highway.I have limited tools and mechanical experience, but I found the directions to be easy to follow. My only recommendation is that the directions contain specifics in what hardware to be used at each step, suck as whether to use lock washers and/or regular washers.

Easy enough to install. Directions were a little generic and not to precise, but I did it myself! Everything is included except the tools to do the job. Took me about 2 1/2 hours to complete. It definitely improves the sounds coming from the engine compartment. Gets louder under 3/4 and full throttle acceleration. My F 150, 5.4 liter truck feels more powerful and has more "grunt" than before. Next on my list is a Superchips power tuner.Just so everyone understands what I expect to achieve, I am looking for more power and torque so that pulling my 16 foot work trailer is less cumbersome and the shifting of the tranny is less annoying.

This is a great product. The install is slightly time consuming as I'm no mechanic and have limited tools. So it took me 3 hours, but was not difficult, just time consuming. The throttle response is much better than stock. Takes some getting used to the new sound as you hear a much different dound with all the factory noise baffles gone. As far as MPGs go it took me 3 full tanks to see any change. So around 6 weeks. The very first tank, bone stock I had 10.5 mpg with my 5.4L f-150. After I installed the intake I still had 10.5 for the next 2 tanks. This is all city. The third tank I jumped to 14.43mpg. I'm not sure if we have switched to summer blend here yet as its march. This is a great product according to my butt dyno, which is much cheaper than the shop dyno there is a nice increase in response and power. If your installing strictly for gas mileage it will take you some time to pay back the 200 dollars, but amazon is by far the best price I found on it, shipped free.

It is simply amazing. It adds significant power to my 05 F-150 and the off-the-line acceleration is noticeable. I get about 1-2 MPG better and the roar of the intake with my magnaflow mufflers is really nice. Great product.

Outstanding Change in Performance,

I have a 2008 F-150 SuperCrew Cab truck and I was disappointed in its performance. I bought and installed a performance chip a couple months after I purchased the vehicle, and it somewhat helped performance but the engine still felt rather sluggish and it was definitely inefficient. In June 2010 I purchased and installed the K&N air filter system and WOW, what a difference!! It not only improved my gas mileage by 1 1/2 mpg (even with the Air Conditioner running), but it has that "let's get up and go" spirit I wanted out of my truck! I couldn't have imagined the difference in feel\performance of the truck, and I am ecstatic!! Trust me, you need to install a K&N air filter system in your vehicle. I figure it will pay for itself in about 20 months of normal driving (1,000 mile per month with gas at $2.70/gallon), plus you get the benefit of enhanced performance and increased mpg for as long as you own your vehicle. It is an absolute "no-brainer" decision to install one of these systems for yourself!! There are a lot of parts to the system, so I grabbed a baking tray and some painter's tape and sectioned it out to hold parts and labeled the sections so it correlated to the reference in the instructions. It proved to be a pretty easy install with this system as the parts were quickly identifiable. It still took me about three hours to get it installed, but hey, any determined person can get the job done and your efforts will be rewarded.

Like other K&N intake systems I have purchased, this one was just as good as the others. Installation was straightforward. On my 5.4L '08 F150, I was pleasantly surprised at the RIDICULOUS amplification of engine sound at wide-open or mostly-open throttle. The in-cabin engine noise is really, really nice. The heat shield and plastic induction tube will undoubtedly help keep intake temperatures down.

Great product, at a great price (For what it does). Noticed a huge difference in sound and performance. As for mpg increase, I havn't tested it out yet. It gave my truck (08' Ford F150 5.4L V8) a mean sound coupled with with my Magnaflow cat-back system on a single 3" in 2.5" out split rear. Dynatech long tube headers and fast cats. I will be recieving Evolution programmer in 2 days with a custom tune from power hungry performance. We'll see how it all ties together. Here's some advice on keeping the filter running solid. Clean that Mass Air Flow Sensor every 4-6 months with the proper cleaning spray. Can Be Found at any local parts store or on Amazon. Grab the quick dry solution. As for Amazons shipping and customer support. Fast and Professional as always. Enjoy the power. Update: It all works very well together :) beast mode.

great product,

I installed this product on my 2008 f150 in about an hour. It bolted right on, and when i turned the truck on there was no check engine light or other light on and there hasn't been since then. My truck sounds great and have seen a little improvement in gas mileage, I would recommend this to a friend. Well worth the money.

I was a bit skeptical at first and thought that maybe this product would not improve anything on my 2004 F-150 FX4. After installing it immediately looked way better than what was under the hood and when I took the truck out for a test drive, boy was I impressed, not only with the sound but with the power it provided. I have had the filter on for about a week now and I do notice a difference in gas mileage, if only slightly, but I'll take what I can get at these gas prices. I have seen some reviews about the K&N filters like this one giving off a high pitched noise that can be annoying, well not on this one I have not heard this sound at all, and I have even taken it on the highway at high speeds. This is a great product and way better than I expected.

Great product. Put it on a 2007 FX4 (5.4L 3-Valve Triton) and the engine roars now that it can breathe. The 63 series is NOT carb legal, but in Michigan it's still legal. Had to take the stock cover off over the throttle body. Had to drill a few custom holes to put the heat shield on. Installation directions are vague so if you attempt this on your own, have a good working knowledge of what you're doing. (Make sure you put the mass air sensor right side up, not upside down or truck will stall.) You'll notice a slight "whistling" noise coasting at 50-60 mph, it's slight and easy to ignore. It added horsepower and fuel economy, there's no hesitation anymore when I hit the gas. Be sure to add K&N's oil to the filter before you use it, it does not come with it already on. When taking the throttle body off, be sure to NOT drop anything in there, it's vertical instead of Horizontal on the older models. Careful not to pinch the rubber seal for the plastic piece that'll raise and reposition the new place for the throttle body. Overall, you will notice a louder roar from your engine and expect a few heads to turn when you get on it. Love K&N and really love this kit. Total installation time was about an hour and you will have extra parts from this kit.
