I am preparing for the CCNA exam, I read this book first of all. It gives you a basic understanding of many topics in the exam objectives. But it's lack of in-depth concepts make it a bad single choice to prepare for the exam.

I've still never laid hands on a router, so I had to do a great deal of reading to pass the CCNA exam. I had read some other Cisco books prior to reading this one, including books by Todd Lammle, Wendell Odom, and Exam Cram. I also read CISCO Academy books to help me become familiar with and understand the exam topics. Mr. Joe Harbraken's book did more than any of the others ; it's the one that really brought things together and each chapter and sub chapters are devided by CCNA exam objectives. The practice questions seemed easier than those in other books and may give a false sense of security if this is the only book you have read, but I think if you're seeking your CCNA and have limited or no experience you should read more than one book anyway. After reading several books, I recommend this path to folks with limited experience who are pursuing the CCNA.

I really like the way this book is put together - many thanks to Mr. Joe Harbraken. This is the best place to start your CCNA pursuit, and only book I found on the market with CCNA 640-507 test objectives in mind.

This cheat sheet was very easy to follow. Among the other items I've read this one gave me the best information to complete my project.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear Cut CCNA!, November 30, 2000

I took the course, had no hands on router experience due to a poor school, had to self-teach the CCNA cirriculum to myself from the previous (retired) version's text. After failing the test one time, I bought CCNA for Dummies but it was scattered. Joe Habraken's another DC area boy who's striving for the I.T. rainbow and meets the Cisco criteria systematically, one item at a time. He is thorough, focused, uses chapter-end quizzes and "cheat sheets" to allow the reader to make mental and written notes. I think this in accompanyment with Todd Lammle's newest (507 v.2) book & Sybex CD-ROM will get me through this tough test successfully next week.

3.0 out of 5 stars needs editing, February 23, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: CCNA 2.0 640-507 Routing and Switching Cheat Sheet (Paperback)
After reading the entire Steve McQuerry Cisco Press book, I found many mistakes in examples and questions in the CCNA CheatSheet book. There are also errors in the answers on the CD-ROM practice test questions. The book does a good job of summarizing at the end of every chapter what you need to know on those subject areas. But overall, it needs to come out in a second edition or the publisher needs to have a website listing known errors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, absolutely terrible "test engine"..., April 13, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CCNA 2.0 640-507 Routing and Switching Cheat Sheet (Paperback)
Fairly good summary, not too many errors in the book itself - although there *are* some miserably poor diagrams and badly construed tables. The CD questions are *very* outdated - virtually useless. The "test engine" is really fluky/flaky - it simply doesn't work very well; combined with realy old, early CCNA1 and pre-CCNA questions it's almost worthless. The book itself, however, is a nice little summary, albeit not for a novice. (just passed excruciating CCNA2 with a 967)
