I've owned six of these units for my Thinkpad X-40s and have not had one fail yet (tho I did kill one with my own negligence by incorrectly attaching it to a USB harness).

Considering the alternative, which is paying 3 times as much for a high-end brand-name unit, these are great value; even if one or two of mine fail, I'm still way ahead of the game.

These units are not for amateurs; you have to be modestly conversant with hardware and OSs. (If you want to keep an X40 around for a while, you'll pretty much have to use a Linux distro, since good luck getting it to run anything more than soon-to-be-obsolete XP).

I don't doubt that some will fail and that Kingspec itself doesn't provide support. I buy mine from memoryc.com at a lower price than the Amazon marketplace, and *they* provide pretty good tech advice.

!!! WARNING !!! Don't buy KINGSPEC !!! WARNING !!!
I bought a 128 GB Kingspec, and used for about a year when suddenly
the bios start to show up to I have some 32MB HDD, of course non information has
been able to be retrieved.
In the normal world a simple upgrade of the firmware of the controller will fix this
minor problem, but not if you have Kingspec
After a long and painful search almost every where in internet in a hundreds forums and sites about SDD and firmwares I found this is not possible...

Unfortunately Kingspec is one of the "idiotic" company that didn't provide a support
or issued periodic updates of the firmware of his products.

I bought the predecessor of this one. It failed within 2 years. Since I reported this just after the 2 year warranty period ended, I was simply out of luck. 'Policy'.
