4.0 out of 5 stars Works great .. a little hot.
I used this for one month with an EEE-1000h running Linux.

It was a simple upgrade. The module was easy to install. Getting my data transferred from the old SSD to the new SSD was a little more work, but I managed with the help of a bootable Linux CD and a USB attached CD-Rom drive, and a USB attached 500GB disk drive.

I can't say that...

1.0 out of 5 stars Defective Product - Poor Quality Control
The 64Gb SSD arrived promptly, however, one of the very small chips on the circuit board had fallen off and was in the bag along with the SSD. This type of failure is caused by a cold solder connection and is 100% preventable with proper quality control. Amazon makes returns easy.

I can't say that performance improved much after the upgrade. I don't think it's the fault of the SSD - it seemed much faster when doing disk benchmarks. I think it's just that the intel atom CPU in the EEE is so slow that even having a faster disk drive didn't really help things that much. Also, I was surprised at how hot the bottom of my EEE was with that chip in my system. The battery lasted the same as it did with the original 32GB SSD, so I'm not complaining, it was just interesting.

Overall I think it's a great SSD, I'm just not sure it's that useful as a performance booster. It's great for increasing your storage capacity though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best upgrade for Eee PC, December 29, 2011

This 64GB SSD was the best upgrade I made to my Ere PC 901. The original C drive is only 4 GB, which isn't big enough to install WinXP and all its software updates. This 64GB drive is very easy to install as it replaces the 8 GB SSD that is easily accessible underneath the bottom cover. You perform a disk image backup to copy C drive over to new drive, and then change boot device to this new drive. This new 64Gb drive is much faster than the old drive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Storage!, April 3, 2011
This review is from: 64GB SaberTooth S4 70mm SATA Mini PCIe SSD upgrade for Asus Eee PC (Electronics)
I like it. It increased my storage space marvelously and makes the little netbook a more useful tool.

The installation was relatively simple, but the screws are very small and difficult for the presbyopic.

Don't forget to pick up a USB CD drive. You'll need one to copy your boot files to the new drive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done, December 5, 2010

I'm using an eeePC 901 running Ubuntu Linux. This one originally came with 20GB SSD (4GB internal & 16GB add-on) Because of its small size & low cost (relative to a Macbook), it still gets quite a lot of mileage so I wanted to upgrade the drive by replacing the 16GB one with the AMP 64GB.

It is as fast as advertised in benchmark tests (~130MB/s vs ~30MB/s from the old drive(s)) but as others pointed out, overall system performance depends on other factors as well, so the benefits are not quite as obvious.

Still, the whole system is noticeably faster, and more importantly delivers plenty of internal storage, for example for movies during an intercontinental flight. It also frees up the SDHC card reader (previously used for additional storage) to make backups from my camera's memory card during a trip for example.

So for me it's a final upgrade well worth it for this somewhat aged netbook, but your mileage may vary. For some perspective, keep in mind that until recently there were no or very few upgrades like this one available at all, and certainly not at that price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great after all., October 22, 2010

Pros: Fast speed, better boot up time and more space for OS, easy to install.
Cons: The price is still too expensive. This stuff is only for Eee PC series, can't apply it for any other device.
Overall: If you need to use your Eee PC a lot (ex: for work, life), this product is probably good for you. It makes your Eee PC faster compare to the original SSD and it's very easy to install.
