Product Description

In 1967, a unique television series premiered, featuring the adventures of Captain James Tiberius Kirk, the enigmatic science officer Mr. Spock, and their crew aboard the fantastic starship, the USS Enterprise. Nothing like it had been seen before on television - Star Trek was the first serious sci-fi television series and ultimately launched a franchise that continues to this day! Round 2 celebrates the original Enterprise with this re-release of the classic 1967 model kit from AMT. Featuring the original box graphics, this kit is certain to become a collector's item all over again! Offered in a limited edition embossed collector's tin, complete with a bonus art print, the Enterprise is 18' long when fully assembled! Some assembly required.

It's great to have a re-issue of the 18" Enterprise again after all these years. That said, the old girl hasn't aged too well. This kit comes from the latest issue of the Enterprise and as such suffers from some of the same problems the previous issue did. I was really hoping Round 2 would correct a number of the flaws. On the positive side, they removed those over-sided deflector grid lines on the upper saucer, but the main deflector is still the flat "pie-plate" shape and not the original curved dish from earlier issues. Purists will (and are) have a field day fixing the deficiencies of this kit in replicating the on-screen version. Also a bonus is that Round 2 have included a version of their decals from the 1/1000 scale kit, re-sized for this scale.

This is a very decent kit and will make a nice model regardless of the level of effort and modification one wishes to go to.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but needs Improvment, June 16, 2010

OK, Model is good size and interesting to put together. However, it sucks becouse every piece except the upper dome and lower dome piece is all a light blueish color to include the Power Unit Dome(front of the Nacells that in the show is supposed to be a orangesh red color) and the Deflector Dish is supposed to be Gold in color. Will be rigging this Model with lights so expect a video review soon. Just have to figure out how to get the correct Nacell color so when light comes through it is correct.
